NYCRUNS Haunted Island 10K
The NYCRUNS Haunted Island 10K takes place on Governors Island in New York and is organized as a Halloween-themed 10-kilometre road race. Entry includes a ferry ride for the runner and guests, race entry, an official tech shirt, and post-race refreshments that include fruit, bagels, and Halloween candy. The course is two loops around Governors Island and is USATF certified.
A Festival Area near the ferry terminal serves as bib and shirt pickup, bag check, bathroom access, and a post-race gathering spot. Start corrals are pace-based and assigned by letter; corral letters are printed on the bib and assignments come from each runner’s profile pace. Bag check requires a single clear bag (18 x 24 inches); organizers reserve the right to search bag contents. Water and electrolyte fluids are available on course and at the finish. Participants receive one complimentary race photo with options to purchase additional images.
Bibs are available for pick up on race morning in the Festival Area with a unique QR code provided on the runner dashboard. NYCRUNS members may receive mailed bibs if they register at least 20 days before the event and use a U.S. mailing address; non-members may add mailed bib service for an additional fee. Awards recognize top three male, female, and non-binary finishers overall and top three in age-group categories by net time. Handcycle and wheelchair athletes are not advised for this course due to numerous turns. Standard no-refund, no-transfer policies apply and strollers and dogs are not permitted.
