NYCRUNS Haunted Island 10K - Governors Island, New York
The event is a Halloween-themed road race in its 15th year on Governors Island. Entry includes a ferry ride for the runner and guests, race entry, an official race tech shirt, and post-race refreshments including Halloween candy.
The course is a 10K made of two loops around the island and is USATF-certified. The route provides views of New York Harbor and the city skyline.
The Festival Area is a short walk from the ferry terminal and serves as bib and shirt pickup, bag check, restroom access, and a pre- and post-race gathering space. Bibs can be mailed to U.S. addresses for registrants who meet the mailing deadline; otherwise bib pickup occurs on race morning and requires a QR code.
Start corrals are pace-based and assigned by letter (AA-F); corral assignment appears on the bib and is based on the pace entered in the participant Dashboard. Bag check requires a single clear bag (18 x 24 inches); organizers may search bag contents.
Hydration stations with water and electrolyte fluids are available on course and at the finish. Post-race food includes fresh fruit and bagels. Participants may pre-purchase photo packages; one free race photo is provided per entry. Shirts are available for pickup on race day only and sizes are not guaranteed.
Awards are given to the top three male, female, and non-binary finishers overall by gun time, with age-group awards by net/chip time across standard age categories. Handcycle and wheelchair athletes are not advised due to numerous turns. Policies include no strollers or dogs, no refunds or transfers (members may withdraw for race credit), and time limits enforced by race marshals.
