NYCRUNS Haunted Island 10K
The NYCRUNS Haunted Island 10K is a Halloween themed 10K held on Governors Island. The event, in its 15th year, encourages costumes but permits participants to run as they prefer. Entry includes a ferry ride for the runner and guests, race entry, an official race tech shirt, and post-race food including Halloween candy.
The course tours Governors Island and consists of two loops with views of New York Harbor. The 10K course is USATF certified. A Festival Area near the ferry terminal serves as bib and shirt pickup, bag check, restroom access, and the post-race refreshment zone. Portable bathrooms will be available and water and electrolyte fluids are provided on course and at the finish.
Bag check requires a single clear bag; race organizers may provide a clear bag (18" x 24") if needed and may search bag contents. Participant shirts are available for race day pickup only and sizes are not guaranteed. Race photos include one free download per runner and optional paid packages; a race gallery link is emailed after the event.
Start corrals use a pace based system with letters AA through F. Results are emailed and posted online. Awards are given to the top three male, female, and non-binary finishers overall by gun time and to age group top three by net chip time in standard age divisions. Handcycle and wheelchair athletes are not advised due to many turns. Standard no-refund and no-transfer policies apply; strollers and dogs are not allowed and time limits are enforced.
