Event Overview

The NYCRUNS Go Nuts for Donuts 5K is a late-autumn running event taking place on Governors Island. The event includes a USATF-certified 5K course.

Course Details

The route consists of one full loop around Governors Island, offering views of New York Harbor and Lower Manhattan. The start and finish lines are located adjacent to the festival area.

Event Amenities

Race entry includes a race bib, a tech shirt for pickup on race day, and a post-race donut. A bag check using a clear bag, portable bathrooms, and hydration stations with water and electrolyte drinks are provided. Professional race photos are available to claim for free after the event. A festival area near the ferry terminal serves as the hub for bib and shirt pickup, bag check, and pre- and post-race activities.

Logistics & Access

The event uses a pace-based start corral system with assignments marked on race bibs. Participants take the Governors Island Ferry from the Battery Maritime Building in Manhattan; ferry rides are free for runners and guests on race morning. Bibs are typically picked up in the festival area on race day using a QR code. NYCRUNS members have the option for bibs to be mailed to a U.S. address if registered at least 20 days before the race. The event advises that due to the number of turns, the course is not recommended for handcycle or wheelchair athletes.

Results & Awards

Results are posted online and emailed after the race. Awards are given to the top three overall male, female, and non-binary runners (gun time), and to the top three in various age groups (chip time). The event has specific policies, including no strollers or dogs allowed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
