Nun Run for Cancer
The Nun Run for Cancer is an annual community event held in Peoria, Illinois. Now in its fifth year, the event serves as a fundraiser with all proceeds benefiting the OSF HealthCare Cancer Institute. The gathering brings together survivors, families, and community members to support cancer care and research. The event is inspired by the Mission of The Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis.
Participants can choose from several event formats:
- 5K Run/Walk: A timed race for adults and children.
- 1 Mile Run/Walk: An untimed course for those preferring a shorter distance.
- Virtual Runner: A remote participation option for those unable to attend in person.
The physical race takes place at RC Outfitters on Southwest Water Street. Timing and scoring services are provided by ShaZam Racing. Participants who register by the specified early deadline are guaranteed an event t-shirt. Virtual participants also receive a t-shirt and a medal.
Awards are recognized for the top overall male and female finishers based on gun time. In addition, age group awards are provided for the top male and female finishers in various categories ranging from 18 & Under to 70 & Over based on net time. There is no formal awards ceremony on-site; instead, awards are mailed to recipients after the event concludes.
