The Chocolate Turkey 3 Mile and 1 Mile Walk
The Chocolate Turkey is a Thanksgiving Day running and walking event in Peoria, Illinois that supports Elite Community Outreach. The event includes a 3 Mile run and a 1 Mile run or walk along the Peoria Riverfront. Courses start near Martinis and finish on Water Street behind the Peoria Riverfront Museum. The event is organized by ShaZam Racing and RC Outfitters and lists Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory as the cocoa and awards sponsor.
Fundraising for Elite Community Outreach is part of the event. Elite is a 501c3 based in Peoria that provides programs in schools, jails, and the community to create economic opportunity and offer second chances. A fundraising goal of $5,000 is shown for the Elite outreach campaign.
Participants are offered race swag while supplies last. Swag includes a triblend raglan long sleeve crewneck shirt and a 3.5 oz solid chocolate turkey. Race photography is sponsored by Elite Community Outreach; donors receive race photos and a race video. Awards are provided by Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and include special creation apples and gift baskets for overall winners and age group awards for top finishers.
