The Chocolate Turkey 3 Mile & 1 Mile Walk for Elite
The Chocolate Turkey is a Thanksgiving Day running and walking event in Peoria, Illinois, held along the Peoria Riverfront and organized by ShaZam Racing and RC Outfitters. The event supports Elite Community Outreach, a 501(c)(3) organization that provides programs in schools, jails, and the community to create economic opportunity and second-chance job training.
Participants receive race swag while supplies last; items include a triblend raglan long-sleeve shirt and a 3.5 oz solid chocolate turkey. Swag is limited to 2500 participants. Race photography is sponsored by Elite Community Outreach; donors receive their race photos and a race video.
Course information notes that routes start near Martinis and finish on Water Street behind the Peoria Riverfront Museum. Awards are provided by Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and include special-creation apples for overall winners and age-group awards for top finishers in specified divisions. Age-group awards are available for several male and female divisions; perishable awards must be picked up within the stated pickup window at the sponsor store.
