The Chocolate Turkey 3 Mile and 1 Mile Walk
The Chocolate Turkey is a Thanksgiving Day tradition held along the Riverfront in Peoria, Illinois. This community event supports Elite Community Outreach, a non-profit organization focused on providing economic opportunities and youth programming. The courses start near Martinis and finish on Water Street behind the Peoria Riverfront Museum.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 3 Mile Run
- 1 Mile Run or Walk
Registered participants receive a long-sleeve tri-blend raglan race shirt and a 3.5 oz solid chocolate turkey while supplies last. The event features live music from a holiday choir and provides hot cocoa and other chocolate treats for participants at the finish line.
Awards are provided by the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory for top finishers. For the 3 Mile event, overall top male and female finishers receive a gift basket and a specialty apple, while the top three finishers in various age groups receive chocolate-dipped apples. The 1 Mile event follows a similar awards structure for overall and age group winners. Packet pickup is held at RC Outfitters in the days leading up to the race, with very limited availability on the morning of the event.
