RC Athletic Club Grand Prix
The RC Athletic Club Grand Prix is a series hosted by RC Athletic Club and organized by ShaZam Racing in Peoria, IL. The Grand Prix ranks participants across selected ShaZam Racing events; eligibility requires completing four of the six included races. Racing more events increases the points a participant can earn.
The series uses age grading for competitors younger than 20 and older than 30. Ages 20 to 30 are the open class and are scored on actual finish times; other ages receive an age-graded time based on an age factor that adjusts performance for age and gender. Age-graded times and points are calculated and posted the Monday after each event.
Points are awarded by place as follows: 1st 100, 2nd 90, 3rd 80, 4th 70, 5th 60, 6th and over 50.
Prize awards are issued as gift certificates to RC Outfitters. Overall overall awards are $700 for 1st, $500 for 2nd, and $300 for 3rd. Age-graded overall and masters categories have separate prize tiers, typically $500, $300, and $200 for the top three. Age-graded age-group prizes are $150 for 1st, $100 for 2nd, and $50 for 3rd across multiple age brackets from youth through 90+. Prizes are mailed the week of December 14.
