RC Athletic Club Grand Prix
The RC Athletic Club Grand Prix is a points-based series hosted by RC Athletic Club in Peoria, Illinois. Eligibility requires completing at least four of seven designated ShaZam Racing events; participants may compete in more races to earn additional points. The seven included events are Shuffler 5K, Blarney Blitz, Steamboat Classic, Running Back to the 80s, Detweiller at Dark, Chocolate Turkey, and Run, Run, Rudolph.
Age grading is applied for athletes younger than 20 and older than 30; the 20-30 age range is the open class and is scored by actual finish time. An age factor adjusts performance to produce an age-graded result; age-graded times and points are published the Monday after each event. Points are awarded across multiple categories (Overall, Overall Age Graded, Masters, Masters Age Graded, and Age Groups Age Graded) with the following values: 1st 100, 2nd 90, 3rd 80, 4th 70, 5th 60, and 6th and over 50.
Awards take the form of RC Outfitters gift certificates across Overall, Age-Graded Overall, Masters, and Age-Group categories with specified amounts for first through third places. Participants who complete four events receive an RC Athletic Club shirt; shirts are distributed at packet pickup for Run, Run, Rudolph or after that race if it is the final event. Prizes are mailed the week of December 14. Entrants may win only one prize level; if eligible in multiple categories, the single highest-value award will be given.
