RC Athletic Club Grand Prix
The RC Athletic Club Grand Prix is a season-long points series hosted by RC Athletic Club and managed by ShaZam Racing. Eligibility for Grand Prix awards requires completing four of the designated ShaZam Racing events; racing additional events can increase point totals.
Included races in the series are Shuffler 5K, Blarney Blitz, Steamboat Classic (a 4 mile race), Detweiller at Dark, Chocolate Turkey, and Run, Run, Rudolph. Age-graded scoring is applied for athletes younger than 20 and older than 30; ages 20 to 30 are the OPEN CLASS and are scored on actual time. The age factor adjusts performance by age and gender so age-graded results compare performances across ages. Age-graded times and points are published the Monday after each event. Example conversions shown by the organizer include a 51-year-old 5K time of 28:00 adjusted to 24:22 and a 54-year-old 28:00 adjusted to 23:47.
Points apply across multiple categories: Overall, Overall (Age Graded), Masters, Masters (Age Graded), and Age Groups (Age Graded). Points awarded per place are 1st 100, 2nd 90, 3rd 80, 4th 70, 5th 60, and 6th and over 50. Awards are gift certificates to RC Outfitters across Overall, Age-Graded Overall, Masters (40+), Age-Graded Masters, and Age-Graded age groups; age-group prizes are $150, $100, and $50 for 1st–3rd. Prizes are mailed the week of December 14. Double dipping is not allowed; a participant can only receive the single highest-value award for which they qualify.
Shirts are provided to participants who complete the required number of events and are distributed at the packet pickup for Run, Run, Rudolph or after that race if it is the final event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
