Event overview
The RC Athletic Club Grand Prix is a series of ShaZam Racing events hosted by RC Athletic Club in Peoria, IL. The Grand Prix runs across seven local events during the year. Registration for the Grand Prix entry is free. The series includes events that feature distances such as 5K, 1 Mile, and 4 Mile.
Format and scoring
Participants must complete at least four of the seven included ShaZam Racing events to be eligible. Each competitor’s best four performances are used for their Grand Prix total. Age grading is applied for athletes younger than 20 and older than 30; ages 20-30 are treated as the open class and are scored by actual time. Age-graded results adjust times using an age factor to compare performances across ages. Age-graded race times and points are posted the Monday after each event. Points are awarded per event as follows: 1st 100, 2nd 90, 3rd 80, 4th 70, 5th 60, 6th and over 50.
Awards and categories
Overall and age-graded overall winners receive RC Outfitters gift certificates: first place $300, second $200, third $100 for both male and female categories. Age-graded age group winners receive $100 gift certificates. Age groups include 10 and under, 11-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80+. Prizes are mailed the week of December 14.
