Polar Bear Half Marathon & 5K NSRF
The event is staged in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, as the fourth and final stop of the NYC Parks Winter Series. Participants can choose between a Half Marathon and a 5K, both run on a USATF certified circuit that uses the same start and finish landmarks: the start is south of Duck Island adjacent to St. Paul’s Place and the finish is at the Grecian Shelter Peristyle.
Distances
- Half Marathon 13.1 miles, four loops on a USATF certified Prospect Park circuit
- 5K 1 loop on the same course
Race services include informal bag check, nearby bathrooms, porto johns near the finish, and hydration provided at the finish line. Refreshments are supplied by All Round Foods and Waterloo Sparkling Water. The half marathon offers live time tracking with split times and split photos for each loop. There is also a virtual participation option that allows entrants to record a time and upload up to five photos within the event window; virtual participants receive mailed bibs and gear as available.
Top finishers receive online recognition overall and in multiple age categories, including age groups from 14 and under through 90 plus. Proceeds benefit the Never Stop Running Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports athletic and charitable activities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
