Abominable 5K and 10K NSRF
The Abominable 5K and 10K is a road running event held at Flushing Meadows Corona Park as part of the NYC Parks Winter Series. The course uses a USATF certified 5K loop that passes the Unisphere twice and circles the Fountain of the Planets. Start and finish are on the north side of Queens Theater.
Distances include:
- 5K: one loop
- 10K: two loops of the 5K course
Race amenities include an informal bag check area, hydration at the finish, bathrooms a short walk from the start and finish, and porto johns near the finish and by the NYC Parks building after mile two. Refreshments are provided by All Round Foods and Waterloo Sparkling Water. Participants receive an Abominable tee. Results are posted live online with free same day finish line photos and video.
Virtual participation is available. Virtual entrants have from the event start day through one week to log a time and may upload up to five photos. Bib mailing options are offered; mailed bibs cost ten dollars if registered at least ten days in advance. The event recognizes top finishers overall and by age group and supports the Never Stop Running Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
