About the race
The Abominable 5K & 10K is a running event held in Flushing Meadows Corona Park as part of the NYC Parks Winter Series. It offers both in-person and virtual participation and includes race gear and on-course amenities.

The course is a USATF certified 5K that starts and finishes on the north side of the Queens Theater. The 5K is one loop that passes the Unisphere twice and runs around the Fountain of the Planets. The 10K consists of two loops of the same 5K course. 10K participants must run through the timing mats on each loop for accurate splits and photos.
Onsite provisions include an informal bag check area, bathrooms within a short walk of the start and finish, porto-johns near the finish, hydration at the finish line, and refreshments provided by event partners. Participants receive an Abominable tee and may choose a virtual option that allows one week to log time and upload up to five photos. Bibs can be mailed for a fee if registered in advance, or picked up from event staff on race day; guidance is provided for proper bib placement.
Live results and same-day finish line photos are available. Top finishers are recognized overall and within standard age groups. Proceeds benefit the Never Stop Running Foundation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
