Abominable 2 Mile & 4 Mile - NYC Parks Winter Series #3
The event takes place on January 17, 2026, at Alley Pond Park in Queens, with staging at the Alley Pond Picnic Area. It is the third stop of the NYC Parks Winter Series and offers both in-person and virtual participation.
Distances and course
- 2 Mile (two loops)
- 4 Mile (four loops)
Each loop must be run through the finish line for accurate split times and photos.
Logistics and amenities
There is informal bag check in the staging area. Bathrooms are located within a few minutes walk of the start and finish. Hydration will be provided at the finish line. Participants receive an Abominable tee and refreshments from All Round Foods and Waterloo Sparkling Water. Parking is available at the Alley Pond Picnic Area. Bib mailing is available for a fee if registered in advance.
Registration and recognition
The event offers in-person and virtual options for both distances. A virtual entry allows participants one week to record a time and upload up to five photos. Age-group online recognition is given to top finishers overall and in multiple age categories. Proceeds benefit the Never Stop Running Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
