North Downs Way Ultra Run
The North Downs Way Ultra Run is a guided trail event starting and finishing at St Martha's Hill in Guildford, Surrey. The route covers parts of the Surrey Hills and the North Downs Way, passing through small villages, Denbies Wine Estate, Newland's Corner and the top of Box Hill, with extensive views across the downs.
The distance is 30 miles and the event is organised as a group run rather than a race. An experienced ultra runner and coach leads the group and manages the route. Participants are advised to have run at least 22 miles in training and to be comfortable maintaining an average trail pace of around 10 min/mile (6:15 min/km) for prolonged periods. Steeper sections are often hiked and the group regroups regularly; faster runners should expect a more social pace at times. A full kit list will be provided and further detailed information is issued to participants before the event.
Logistics include a meeting location at St Martha's Hill, a car park on site, and a short run or taxi ride from the nearest train station. The stated cost is £55 per person. Participants may receive an alcohol free beer from Athletic Brewing Company at the end of the run, subject to availability. Scheduled dates include Saturday 3 October 2026, Saturday 9 January 2027 and Saturday 16 October 2027. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
