North Chilterns 50K
The North Chilterns 50K is a 50 kilometre trail race scheduled for 21 November 2026, hosted from Putteridge Bury Country House near Luton, Bedfordshire. The course records approximately 798m of elevation gain, has a maximum field of 250 runners and is licensed by the Trail Running Association. It is listed as a UTMB World Series index race.
The route follows the Chiltern Way toward Lilley and out to Warden and Barton Hills, then across the Pegsdon Hills toward Offley. Notable viewpoints include Warden Hill and Barton and Pegsdon Hills. The final 12 kilometres include a series of three small hills. The course is described as undulating and varied.
The route will be fully marked with orange arrows and ribbons and marshals will be positioned at several key points. All runners must carry a digital version of the route on a watch or phone as a backup. There is an overall time limit of 8h45 and the minimum age for entry is 20 years.
There are three checkpoints with toilets at approximately 14.3km (Arnold Rec, Barton), 28km (The View) and 37.2km (Offley Village Hall). Aid station provisions include water, cola, Precision Fuel and Hydration drinks and nutrition items, crisps, sweets and fresh fruit. The event base provides indoor registration, toilets, hot drinks, bag drop and onsite parking. Required kit includes a mobile with an emergency number saved, route map on watch or phone, waterproof jacket, headtorch, refillable hydration of at least 0.5L, payment method, warm hat and gloves and a foil blanket.
