Event overview
The North Chilterns 50K is a trail ultra held from the Putteridge Bury Estate in Luton, Bedfordshire. The 2026 edition is scheduled for 21 November and is the fifth running of the event. The race distance is 50km with 798m+ of elevation, a maximum field of 250 runners and an overall time limit of 8 hours 45 minutes. The event holds TRA Licence No. 7745 and is run under UKA rules. Minimum age is 20 and dogs are not permitted. Entry fees are listed at £75 (£73 for UKA affiliated runners); a discounted fee was previously shown.
Course and navigation
The route follows the Chiltern Way towards Lilley and continues out to Warden and Barton Hills, then across the Pegsdon Hills and toward Offley. The final 12 km feature three small hills. The course is fully waymarked with orange arrows and ribbons and will have several marshals; runners must carry a digital route on a watch or phone as backup. Support and practical information
There are three checkpoints with toilets: Arnold Rec, Barton at 14.3 km; The View at 28 km; and Offley Village Hall at 37.2 km. Aid stations provide water, cola, an electrolyte drink, gels and chews, crisps, sweets and fresh fruit. The event base is Putteridge Bury Country House, offering indoor registration, toilets, hot drinks, and a start/finish area with direct trail access. Required kit includes a mobile phone, route map on watch/phone, waterproof jacket, headtorch, refillable hydration (0.5 L min), payment card or cash, warm hat and gloves, and a foil blanket.
