The North Chilterns 50K is a trail ultra held from Putteridge Bury Country House. The 4th edition takes place on Sunday 12th October 2025. The course distance is 50 km with approximately 798 m of elevation gain. The event is limited to 250 runners, has a 9-hour time limit, and requires participants to be at least 20 years old. The race is UTMB World Series indexed, permitted by the TRA and held under UKA rules. Entry is priced at £75 (£73 for UKA affiliated runners). The event base offers indoor registration, toilets and hot drinks, with the start/finish at the rear of the property and direct access to local trails.
Course, support and requirements
The route follows sections of the Chiltern Way toward Lilley, Warden and Barton Hills, includes the Pegsdon Hills and finishes via Offley. After the first aid station there is a significant climb, then an undulating section to CP2; the final 12 km contains three small hills. Navigation is fully marked with orange arrow markers and ribbons and marshals are positioned at key points; runners must carry a digital or paper copy of the route as backup. There are three checkpoints: CP1 Arnold Rec, Barton (14.3 km), CP2 The View (28 km) and CP3 Offley Village Hall (37.2 km), each with toilets. Aid stations provide water, coke, electrolyte drink, gels, chews, crisps, sweets and fresh fruit. Mandatory kit includes a mobile phone, route map, windproof/waterproof jacket and a refillable hydration system (minimum 0.5 L). The event uses chip timing, offers a finisher medal, course medical support and bag drop. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
