North Chilterns 50K : Putteridge Bury, Luton
The North Chilterns 50K is a 50km trail race hosted from Putteridge Bury Country House in Luton. The course gains approximately 798m+ and is limited to 250 runners. The fifth edition takes place on 21st November 2026 and the event holds UTMB World Series index status. The race is licensed by the Trail Running Association (license number 8216) and is held under UKA rules. Minimum age is 20 and dogs are not permitted.
Runners follow the Chiltern Way towards Lilley, then out to Warden and Barton Hills, with later sections over the Pegsdon Hills and into Offley. Several notable viewpoints are on the route, including Warden Hill and Barton and Pegsdon Hills. The route is fully marked and marshals are stationed at key points; participants are required to carry a digital route copy on a watch or phone as backup. There is an overall time limit of 8 hours 45 minutes.
The event base at Putteridge Bury Country House provides indoor registration facilities, toilets and hot drinks, with the start/finish area at the rear providing direct trail access. There are three aid stations at 14.3km (Arnold Rec, Barton), 28km (The View) and 37.2km (Offley Village Hall) offering water, soft drinks, electrolyte drink, gels and chews, snacks and fresh fruit. A GPX file and mapped route are available. Entry fee is listed at £75 (£73 UKA affiliated) with an earlybird tier previously offered at £65 for the first 10% of entrants.
