North Chilterns 50K
The North Chilterns 50K is a trail ultramarathon held on 21st November 2026 from Putteridge Bury Estate in Luton (LU2 8LE). The route covers 50 km with about 798 m of ascent, following Chiltern ridgelines and local paths that pass Warden Hill, Barton Hills and the Pegsdon Hills before returning via Offley.
The course uses the Chiltern Way for large sections and includes a notable climb after the first checkpoint, an undulating middle section and a final 12 km section with three small hills. The route is fully marked with orange arrows and ribbons and marshals are positioned at busier points. Runners must carry a digital version of the route on a watch or phone as a backup.
There are three checkpoints: CP1 at Arnold Rec, Barton (14.3 km), CP2 at The View (28 km) and CP3 at Offley Village Hall (37.2 km). Each checkpoint provides water, Coke, pre-mixed electrolyte drink and Precision Fuel products including gels and chews, plus a selection of crisps, sweets and fresh fruit. Toilets are available at the event base and at all three checkpoints.
The event base is Putteridge Bury Country House with indoor registration facilities, toilets and hot drinks. The race is licensed by the Trail Running Association, holds UTMB World Series index status, has a maximum of 250 runners, a minimum age of 20 and an overall time limit of 8 hours 45 minutes.
