North Chilterns 50K
The North Chilterns 50K is a 50km trail ultra held from Putteridge Bury Country House. The 2025 edition is scheduled for 12th October and is the fourth running of the event. The course has about 798 m of ascent, a maximum field of 250 runners and a 9-hour time limit. Navigation is fully marked on the day and the event appears on the UTMB World Series index. Entry price is £75 (£73 for UKA affiliated runners). Minimum age is 20 and dogs are not permitted. The event is permitted by the TRA and is held under UKA rules.
Route, aid stations and facilities
The route follows the Chiltern Way towards Lilley and passes Warden Hill, Barton Hills and the Pegsdon Hills before returning via Offley. After CP1 there is a marked climb followed by an undulating section to CP2, and the final 12 km contains three small hills. The event base offers indoor registration, toilets, a private female changing area, hot drinks and a start/finish area with direct access to trails. Luton is the nearest train station.
Aid stations are provided at checkpoints and include water, coke, electrolyte drink, gels, chews, snacks and fresh fruit. Required kit must be carried for the whole run and includes a mobile phone, route map on watch or phone (or paper map), windproof or waterproof jacket, refillable hydration system (min 0.5L) and cash or card.
