North Buncombe Middle School Chilly Challenge 5K and 1 Mile Chili Chase
The event takes place at North Buncombe Middle School, 51 N. Buncombe School Road, Weaverville, NC on February 27, 2027. It offers in-person and virtual race options and includes a post-race chili lunch and a participant T-shirt.

Multiple entry categories are listed with different fees and registration windows. Registration opens on September 4, 2026 for most categories. Fees recorded in the event details include $35 for adult 5K entries and $25 for student and staff entries; some restricted in-school entries are listed with no fee. The adult 5K registration shows an earlier closing date than other categories; most categories close on February 25, 2027.
Virtual entries may run the marked course or a personal course, submit their time by email for inclusion on the finishers list, and send photos for posting to event social media. The 5K and 1 mile courses will be marked and ready by Thursday, February 25, 2027. Virtual participants are noted as not eligible for awards, and virtual participant T-shirts are available for pickup at the North Buncombe Middle School office. A T-shirt is guaranteed for registrations completed by February 7, 2027; additional shirts may be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
