NM Farolito "Trail of Lights" 5K
The NM Farolito "Trail of Lights" is an evening holiday running and walking event held December 12, 2026, at the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The course is illuminated by approximately 2,500 glowing farolitos (luminarias), creating a distinctive nighttime route for participants.

Registration opens August 24, 2026; deadlines vary by event category, with most 5K entries closing November 9, 2026, youth and Kids K entries closing December 7, 2026, and the virtual 5K closing December 10, 2026. Entry fees range from $20 to $40. Packet pickup is scheduled the day before the event at Fleet Feet Sports, North Towne Plaza, 5901 Wyoming Suite R, Albuquerque; out-of-town participants may pick up packets at the race location on race day.
Included with registration are a long-sleeve event T-shirt and a custom finisher medal, and post-race refreshments feature New Mexican holiday items such as posole and hot chocolate.
Event rules and safety measures note that bibs must be worn visibly on the front and are non-transferable; headphones are permitted except for prize-eligible competitors; GPS devices are allowed but not official timing; video devices and unauthorized wheeled devices are prohibited; dogs are not permitted; strollers are allowed with requirements for positioning, child security, and lighting. Medical personnel and radio communications will be available on course, and event officials may modify or cancel the event for severe weather or safety concerns.
