Niwot Trot 5K
The Niwot Trot 5K is a community running event held on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Whistle Stop Park. This is the 17th annual 5K and the distance is 5K (3.1 miles) through downtown Niwot.
The course uses the same layout as 2025: a fast and flat loop over back roads and gravel paths in and around downtown. The event brings together families, school staff, teachers, and neighbors. Participants may run, walk, stroll, or trot along the course.
Event amenities include free pre and post race coffee and free post-race ice cream sandwiches provided by Coldstone Creamery. The race concludes with an awards ceremony and raffle prizes, plus youth finisher medals. Awards are presented to overall male and female winners and to the fastest boy and girl in each grade. Race miles qualify for the 100 Mile Club.
Parking near the venue is extremely limited; there will be no parking along Murray between 1st and 2nd, or along 1st Ave. Organizers list volunteering opportunities before, during, and after the race. Sponsorship sales for this edition closed on September 5. Local sponsors named for the event include Rovr, Stapp Interstate Toyota, Niles Family Dentistry, Ark Ninja, Cold Stone Creamery, Gunbarrel Import Motors, Dr. Jill Health, and Rocky Mountain Church.
