About the race
Candy Cane Runs is an annual holiday running event held at Promenade Park by the Westin Hotel in Westminster, Colorado. The organizer lists the 2026 edition as the 4th Annual race and notes the event date as Sunday, December 13th. The venue includes a stage area for music and awards and parking near the start/finish.
The event offers multiple race distances:
- 10k Run with an additional eastbound loop.
- 5k Run on a flat loop, suitable for strollers and young children.
- Kids 1 Mile for ages 3 to 12.
Course details describe a generally flat, fast layout. The 5k uses a westward loop and returns to the finish; the 10k follows the 5k loop then continues east about 1.5 miles out before returning. The 5k has one aid station; the 10k includes an added water stop at the turnaround. Several small prizes are hidden on course as "elves" that participants can bring to the finish to win gifts.
Finish-line features include a collector-style race bib with pull tags for gifts, a free Yoga Six session redeemable at a local studio, running gloves, a finisher medallion that converts to a tree ornament, and a finisher mug. The finish expo offers hot cocoa, coffee, cider, hot food, cookies and donuts, and a separate adult beverage area. Candy canes are distributed at the finish.
