Newport Rhode Races
Newport Rhode Races is an athletic event held in Newport, Rhode Island, featuring multiple road races that showcase the coastal scenery of the "City by the Sea." The event occurs during the Annual Newport Daffodil Days Festival, with courses passing by a significant number of blooming daffodils throughout the city.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 26.2 Miles (Marathon)
- 13.1 Miles (Half Marathon)
- 3.1 Miles (5k)
The Marathon and Half Marathon courses guide runners past historic mansions, ocean views, and tree-lined streets. The Marathon course is USATF certified and serves as a Boston Marathon Qualifier. Its second half includes landmarks such as popular Second Beach, Purgatory Rock, the Norman Bird Sanctuary, and quiet roads in Middletown.
The 5k route passes the Cliff Walk and travels through a section of Salve Regina University before looping through a local neighborhood and returning to Easton's Beach.
For those unable to attend in person, virtual options are available for all three distances. Virtual participants complete their chosen distance on their own time and course during the month of April. Spectator shuttle tickets are available for transportation to and from the event festivities at Easton's Beach. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
