Event overview
The Newport Rhode Races take place in Newport, Rhode Island on April 18, 2026. The event is staged at Easton’s Beach and includes in-person and virtual options. The in-person program offers the following distances:
- 26.2 mi full marathon
- 13.1 mi half marathon
- 5 km 5K
- Beach Mile and virtual versions of full, half, and 5K
The full and half marathon courses are USATF certified and the full marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier. The full marathon route covers 26.2 miles with a total ascent of 747.42 ft and a maximum elevation of 15.75 ft; the half follows the first 13.1 miles of the full course. The 5K runs along Memorial Blvd and Cliff Dr before returning to Memorial Blvd.
Course, logistics and amenities
Aid stations appear roughly every 2 miles and provide water and Nuun; some stations offer Gu energy gels and bananas. Port-a-potties are available at every aid station. Chip timing and live athlete tracking (RaceJoy) are provided. Pace groups are offered for multiple finishing times for both the marathon and half marathon.
Packet pick-up is available at local locations in Providence and Middletown and at Easton’s Beach on race weekend. Parking for participants is staged off-site with shuttle service; participants must show their bib to board runner shuttles. Registration includes a tech shirt, free photos, and medals for half and full finishers; post-race amenities include a beach-side recovery area, one complimentary beer for eligible participants, and free post-race massages.
