Newport Rhode Races - Newport, RI
Newport Rhode Races offers road races in Newport, Rhode Island, held in April and coordinated with the Newport Daffodil Days Festival. The event includes multiple distances along seaside roads, with a start and finish at Easton’s Beach and course sections that pass daffodils, rocky shorelines, historic mansions and ocean vistas.
Distances
- Marathon - 26.2 miles, USATF certified, Boston Marathon qualifier
- Half Marathon - 13.1 miles, follows the first half of the marathon route
- 5K - 5 kilometers, starts and finishes at Easton’s Beach
Courses include paced groups for several target finish times and aid stations offering water, Nuun electrolyte drink, GU energy gels and bananas. Port-a-potties are located at every aid station. Official course time limits apply for finishers: Marathon 6 hours, Half Marathon 3.5 hours, 5K 1 hour, Beach Mile 30 minutes.
Logistics note that roads remain open with limited restrictions, parking on the course is prohibited, and organized shuttles operate from designated lots; participants must show bibs to board runner shuttles. All races conclude at Easton’s Beach where a post-race festival takes place with athlete recovery areas, food, a beer garden, vendor activities, free post-race massages and access to YMCA shower facilities.
The event is Green-Certified by the state Department of Environmental Management and emphasizes waste reduction and dune protection. 2026 marks the organizer’s 10th year of staging the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
