Newport Night Run
The Newport Night Run is an annual evening 5K that starts and finishes at Rogers High School in Newport. The event benefits the Newport Public Education Foundation and welcomes walkers and runners of all ages and paces.
The course runs along rural roads in and around the city, including sections of Ocean Avenue and Hazard Road. The route uses local streets and offers views of Newport’s coastal and rural landscapes.
A portion of all registration fees and 100% of sponsorship fees are directed to the Newport Public Education Foundation. The foundation is an independent nonprofit that works to improve the performance of Newport’s public school children by enhancing educational opportunities and building community support for public education.
On race night, registered participants receive a race bib and timing chip at registration in the Rogers High School parking lot off Wickham Road. Limited lot parking is available at Rogers High School off Ruggles Avenue on a first-come, first-served basis; additional street parking is available on Old Fort Road and in surrounding neighborhoods. Events are held rain or shine, though race officials may delay or cancel the event in severe weather after consulting public safety and medical personnel; in such cases no refunds are issued.
