The Newcastle 10K is a road race held on the Quayside in Newcastle upon Tyne (NE1 3DX). The event supports The Children’s Foundation and is run in partnership with Tyne Bridge Harriers. Organizers describe the course as flat and fast and note it is the second edition of this race. Entries have been booked 104 times in the last month. Entry prices listed range from £30 to £140 depending on race type and group options.
Course, waves and included items
The race is a 10K on a road-closed route that goes along the Quayside, passes the Swing Bridge, runs under the High Level Bridge, and passes Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, King Edward VII Bridge and Redheugh Bridge before returning the same way. The field is split into two waves: an A-race for runners aiming for sub 40 minutes and a B-race for runners expecting 40 minutes or more. There is a 90 minute cut-off because of road closures.
