Newcastle 10k: January 2027
Newcastle 10k takes place on 23 January 2027 along the Newcastle Quayside. The event supports The Children's Foundation, the 2027 Charity of the Year, an independent children’s charity working with vulnerable children and young people in the North East.
The race is delivered in partnership with Gateshead Harriers and will use full road closures. Organisers expect over 3,000 runners on a scenic out-and-back route that follows the Quayside. The course passes beneath the Swing Bridge, High Level Bridge, Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, King Edward VII Bridge and Redheugh Bridge, with views of the Tyne Bridge, Gateshead Millennium Bridge, the Glasshouse and the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art. The finish sits against the backdrop of the Millennium Bridge.
The route is described as flat and fast and forms part of the Top Flight Race Series, which attracts leading UK athletes. Entries include a unique themed medal, free race photos, chip-timed results and post-race goodies. Each kilometre is marked with distance flags and marshals guide participants around the course. The event village offers food and drink options and partner giveaways. Organisers also highlight sustainability work and an optional event t-shirt available at a discounted price when purchased as part of entry.
