Xfinity Newburyport Half Marathon | Relay | 5K
The event takes place in Newburyport, Massachusetts with a harbor-side start and finish in Cashman Park. The course uses scenic roads in West Newbury and the Clipper Rail Trail system and the half marathon holds USATF certification MA25016JK.
Distances include:
- Half Marathon
- Two person relay with an exchange zone at mile 6.5
- 5K out-and-back on the Clipper Rail Trail
Aid stations on the half marathon provide water, Gatorade and port-o-johns at approximately miles 1.5, 3.2, 5.0, 8.3, 10.5 and 12.4. There is one aid station on the 5K course. Gear check is available at the registration area and municipal parking lots are located near Cashman Park and downtown Newburyport.
There is a course time limit of 3.5 hours for the half marathon and a 1 hour 15 minute limit for the 5K. Relay teams are offered shuttle transportation to and from the 6.5 mile exchange point; return shuttles run as needed.
Finisher medals are awarded to half marathon and relay finishers. Additional participant items mentioned include a limited hoodie offer for the first 2,000 registrants, a beer ticket for those 21 and over, free race photos and a finish line video. Awards are given to the top three male and female in each five year age group and are available at the awards tent after the race.
