Newburyport Running Events
The Xfinity Newburyport Half Marathon, Relay, and 5K take place in the coastal city of Newburyport, Massachusetts. The events utilize a harbor-side start and finish at Cashman Park. The courses explore the scenic roads of West Newbury and sections of the Clipper Rail Trail system.
The following distances are available:
- Half Marathon (USATF certified course MA25016JK)
- Two-Person Relay (6.5-mile exchange point)
- 5K (Out and back course on the Clipper Rail Trail)
- Virtual Race
The half marathon and relay course is characterized by coastal scenery and local rail trails. For relay participants, a shuttle bus provides transportation from the start area to the exchange zone. The 5K begins ten minutes after the half marathon and follows a path along the rail trail. A course time limit of 3.5 hours is in place for the half marathon, while the 5K has a limit of 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Aid stations are situated along the routes at approximately 1.5, 3.2, 5.0, 8.1, 10.5, and 12.4 miles, providing water and electrolyte drinks. Energy gels are available at the 8.3-mile mark for long-distance runners. Participants finishing the half marathon or relay receive a finisher medal. Those aged 21 and over may access an on-site beer garden after the race. Additional amenities include gear check services at Cashman Park and digital race photos.
