New Year's One Day
New Year's One Day is a multi-event running competition held in Hellyer County Park, San Jose on December 31, 2026. The event offers individual and team categories including 24 hour Solo, 100 Mile, 12 hour Solo, 6 hour Solo, 24 hour Team, 12 hour Team, and 6 hour Team.
The course is an asphalt loop around Cottonwood Lake measuring 1.03 miles per lap and is USATF certified (CA23033TEB). The course is described as relatively flat and is not lighted at night. Pacing is not allowed. Each lap is recorded with a bibtag timing chip and real time lap splits are displayed at the start and finish area. Runners must complete a full lap within the event time limit to receive credit for the distance.
Aid is provided about every mile with fresh fruit, salty snacks, assorted candy, water, and Skratch electrolyte drink; hot soup and pizza are available in the evening. The event is cupless; participants are asked to bring their own non breakable, labeled container for fluids. Portable toilets are located near the start and finish. Teams of two to four receive a race belt and may transfer the team bib only at the timing mat; each team member must complete at least one lap. Awards include finisher items for most categories, specific buckles for certain lap thresholds, and medals for top finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
