Event Overview
The New Year's One Day is a fixed-time running and walking event held at Hellyer County Park in San Jose, California. The race takes place on a 1.0 mile loop around Cottonwood Lake. The course is USATF certified (CA23033TEB), providing a sanctioned environment for participants to track their distance throughout the duration of their selected time limit.
Participation Options
Participants can choose from several individual and team formats:
- 100 Mile Solo race with a 28 hour time limit.
- 24 hour Solo or Team event.
- 12 hour Solo or Team event.
- 6 hour Solo or Team event.
In the fixed-time events, runners and walkers determine their own pace and total distance, completing as many or as few laps as desired within the set timeframe. For the 100 Mile individual race, participants focus specifically on reaching the century distance and are not eligible for distance-based awards such as the 100K buckle.
Team and Event Regulations
Team entries are open to groups of 2-4 members. Each team is provided with a race belt for their shared bib, which must be transferred between members at the timing mat located at the start and finish area. Every team member is required to complete at least one full lap of the course.
Once any race has started, participants are not permitted to change their registered event category. The event base is located at the Buena Vista Pavilion within Hellyer County Park, providing a central point for the repeated loop course.
