Course and race logistics

The course is a USATF-certified loop (CA23033TEB) of 1.03 miles around Cottonwood Lake on an asphalt path. The course is described as relatively flat and is not lighted at night; organizers recommend participants have a flashlight if running after dark. Each lap is recorded with a bibtag timing chip and real-time lap splits are displayed at the start/finish area. Runners must complete the full lap within the event time limit to receive credit.

Aid stations are located roughly every mile and provide fresh fruit, salty snacks, assorted candy, water, and Skratch electrolyte drink; hot soup and pizza are available in the evening. The event is cupless: there are no pre-filled cups at aid stations and participants are asked to bring their own nonbreakable, labeled drinking container. A small number of Hydrapak SpeedCups will be for sale at check-in.

Teams and awards

Teams consist of 2-4 members; each member must complete at least one lap and the team bib may only be transferred at the timing mat. Award medals are given to the top three teams, and all teams receive a custom coaster with team name and distance. Individual awards include midlayer fleece for 24 hr and 12 hr runners, hi-tech tees for other categories, finisher medals for all participants except 100-mile runners, and belt buckles for specified distance achievements. Overall individual winners receive race-credit prizes of $50, $35, and $20 for first through third place. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
