New Year's Day Triathlon
The New Year's Day Triathlon takes place on 01 Jan 2026 in Edinburgh. This is the 30th edition of the event, which was originally introduced as part of the Edinburgh Hogmanay Festival. The venue is the Royal Commonwealth Pool, Dalkeith Road, Edinburgh EH16 5BB. The event status is open and the total field is listed as 425 places.
Race format
Distances for the adult individual race are:
- 400 m swim - 8 lengths of the Commie Pool
- 11 mile cycle - three laps around Arthur's Seat, clockwise
- 3.5 mile run - one lap around Arthur's Seat, clockwise
A relay team option is available. There is also a children's duathlon for ages 8 to 15 consisting of a short run, 2 km bike and a short run, all on closed roads. Every entrant receives a race memento.

Entry prices listed include:
- Relay team entry until 08 Dec 2025: £75.00
- Individual entry until 01 Sep 2025: £53.00; later entry until 19 Dec 2025: £59.00
A British Triathlon Race Pass is required for participants who are not British Triathlon Home Nation members. Race Pass costs shown are £2.00 (plus £0.08 service charge) for participants aged 24 and under, and £8.00 (plus £0.32 service charge) otherwise.
