About the race
The New Year Run Challenge is a community running event held on January 1, 2027, at Fleet Feet Mechanicsburg, 6416 Carlisle Pike #700, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050, US. The event is organized as an untimed challenge where participants may run or walk any distance and submit their distance on a results board at the end.
The course uses two loops: a classic 2.2 mile loop and a loop around DiFillipo Park. Proceeds from the event are given to Communities Rising. Past efforts associated with this event have provided more than 800 pairs of shoes and socks to children in Southern India, along with school supplies, food, and opportunities to join a running program that prepares them for a 5K.
Registration opens October 1, 2026 and closes November 30, 2026. The registration fee is $21.00. Event participation is limited and there will be no race day registration. A free event shirt is available to the first 140 participants. Participants may pick up their shirt and race number at Fleet Feet Mechanicsburg on December 30 and December 31 prior to the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
