New Forest Brockenhurst Trail Run
The event is a trail running series based at Roundhill Campsite near Brockenhurst inside the New Forest National Park, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It takes place late in the season and follows well maintained, wide hard packed gravel paths through woodland and heathland.
The route is slightly undulating and described as having smooth, firm underfoot trails suitable in a range of weather conditions. Runners may encounter free roaming wildlife along the course, including New Forest ponies, horses, donkeys, deer and pigs. The route passes through areas of ancient woodland and heath and includes a former World War Two airfield reclaimed by nature.
Distances offered
- 21.6K Half Marathon route, about 185 m elevation gain
- 16.7K Medium route, about 123 m elevation gain
- 10K Short route, about 69 m elevation gain
The event is chip timed and the course is fully signed using pink arrows and tape, with hazards and road junctions marked. On course support includes water stations, first aid cover, course marshals and event photography. At the finish runners receive a metal finisher medal, a finisher goodie, a refreshment and a personalised certificate. Bib numbers are collected at registration on arrival. The event operates a plastic free policy and requests runners bring a reusable cup or bottle for water stations. Spectators are welcome.
