New Forest Trail Run at Roundhill Campsite
The event is a trail run based at Roundhill Campsite in the New Forest National Park, set on wide, hard-packed gravel pathways. The route runs through ancient woodland and heathland and passes areas where New Forest ponies, horses, donkeys and deer graze beside the trails.
Trails are described as well maintained and solid underfoot, remaining runnable in varying weather and suited to late season conditions. The course is relatively flat with slight undulation; the full half marathon route records 183 m of elevation gain. The route is waymarked and designed to flow through a mix of forest and open heath.
The organiser offers two route distances to choose from and encourages new runners to take part. Finishers receive a metal medal, a finisher’s gift and a refreshment at the finish. A merch tent is available at the event to purchase running-related items.
Practical aspects highlighted by the organiser include clear paths, visible wildlife on and beside the trails, and firm surfaces that aim to provide consistent footing across different weather conditions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
