Neighborhood Food Pantries presents a community running event held at Ross Ferraro Town Center in Carol Stream, Illinois. The event includes a 5K run/walk and a 100-yard kids dash for children under ten. Race entry includes an NFP 5K T-shirt, a race bib, a certificate of completion, and a post race snack. T-shirts and race packets must be picked up at Dick Pond Athletics in Carol Stream; packets are not mailed.
The event supports Neighborhood Food Pantries efforts to address food insecurity in DuPage County; the organizer notes that more than 60,000 neighbors in the county face food insecurity. Participants can register as teams and create personalized fundraising pages with progress meters. The top three individual fundraisers and the top three fundraising teams receive recognition at the event. Medals are awarded to top performers and top fundraisers.
Age group awards are organized by the following categories: 13 and under, 14 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, 70 to 79, and 80 and over. Fundraising materials and tips are provided to help participants build fundraising pages and recruit supporters. The event combines a community running activity with fundraising to support local food assistance programs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
