About the race
The NAAC Festival of Running is organised by North Ayrshire Athletics Club and takes place at St Matthews Academy in Saltcoats on 06 Sep 2026. The festival includes a chip timed 10k, a chip timed 2k youth run for children aged 6 to 15, and a 400m fun run with entry available on the day. The 10k course starts and finishes on the athletics arena and follows a mostly flat, fast route along promenade, a tarmac old railway track and sections of pavement, with one small hill in the second half. The 2k youth route uses the running track, nearby gravel paths and grass.
Both chip timed races are well marshalled and clearly sign posted. Timing is via a race chip and competitors must collect their race number with chip before the race. Entries for the 10k and 2k must be made by 30 August 2026 or when each race limit is reached; entries will not be accepted on the day for those races. All 10k finishers receive a T-shirt and medal; all 2k finishers receive a T-shirt and medal.
Prizes are awarded for first, second and third male and female, and for category winners in U20, V40, V50, V60 and V70. Limited parking is available at the school and the venue is a short walk from Ardrossan South Beach railway station. Registration and toilet details will be confirmed before the event.
