MVRRC Independence Day 5K Road Race
The Moreno Valley Road Runners Club hosts the inaugural Independence Day race at the Lake Perris State Recreation Area. This event takes place on the dam with the course located in Perris, California. The race is held on July 4 and encourages participants to wear patriotic colors such as red, white, and blue.
The event offers two distinct distances:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 1 Mile Kids' Race (for ages 12 and under)
Cash prizes are available for the top three male and female finishers in the 5K race, with awards totaling 150, 75, and 50 dollars respectively. In the kids' 1 mile race, awards are presented to the top three boys and girls. Every participant who completes their distance receives a finisher medal.
Proceeds from the race support youth training programs and the Moreno Valley Road Runners Club. Registration is open to the public, and fees remain consistent for both advanced and race day registration. Participants are advised that there is a separate vehicle entrance fee for the state recreation area. Packet pick-up is conducted on-site on the morning of the event.
