Tinsel Triathlon & 5K
The Tinsel Triathlon is a long running reverse sprint pool triathlon held in Hemet, California, with a separate 5K run in West Hemet. It is described as one of the oldest and largest independently owned reverse sprint pool triathlons on the West Coast.
Triathletes finish in a 25 meter heated pool at West Valley High School, swimming 150 meters as an up and back set of six laps. The bike leg covers about 12 miles on a route that runs along country roadside sections with roads closed for the event. The 5K run takes place in a scenic, calm area of West Hemet and is noted as a flat and fast course.
The event includes individual entries, multi-person relay teams, and a challenged athlete category. An awards ceremony follows the races and finishers receive a distinctive Tinsel finisher medal.
