Mustang Bear Paw 5K
The Mustang Bear Paw 5K is held in downtown Eagle River as a prelude to the Bear Paw Festival parade. The course follows the parade route through downtown, passes cheering crowds and the reviewing stand, continues onto the paced bike trail, and loops back to finish on the sidewalk outside Eagle River Presbyterian Church.
This edition is sanctioned by USATF and designated the USATF Alaska Association 5K Road Race Championship. USATF certifies the championship course. Cash prizes will be awarded to top finishers who are USATF members, and two additional cash prizes will be drawn at random among USATF members. USATF membership is not required to participate in the race.
Bib pickup is available Thursday, July 9 from 4:30 to 6:30 PM at the Downtown Skinny Raven, 800 H Street, Anchorage, AK, or on event day from 8:45 to 10:00 AM at the Auto Zone parking area in downtown Eagle River.
Awards are available for pickup at the results tent with computer lookup at the finish area. Awards include Top 3 Overall and age class prizes for these classes: 1-8, 9-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+. Double dipping is allowed so an overall winner may also receive an age class award.
For participant safety the event does not allow dogs or other pets, bicycles, rollerblades, or skateboards. Participants using baby joggers or strollers are asked to start toward the back of the field and to be courteous to other participants.
