The event features several competition formats:
- SwimRun Mini: A 9.5 km course consisting of 7 stages, designed for those interested in their first swimrun.
- SwimRun Basic: A two-lap version of the 9.5 km course, totaling approximately 18 km for a greater distance.
- Open Water Swim: Participants compete on a 1 km loop with options for 1 km, 2 km, or 3 km distances.
Course Details
The SwimRun course includes multiple transitions between lake swimming and road or trail running. The route utilizes local landmarks such as Charles Street, Bogart Street, and the Keuka Outlet Trail. Swimming sections include a counter-clockwise loop from the beach and stretches along local docks and barges. Aid stations with water are located near the second swim entrance and at the turnaround point on the second run.
Gear and Participation
Swim caps are provided by the organizers and are mandatory for identification. Participants will have their race numbers marked on their upper back or shoulder. While wetsuits are optional, those used must allow for free movement during the running portions. Recommended gear includes goggles for sighting and shoes with significant traction for handling slippery rocks and technical trail sections. Hand paddles and pull buoys are permitted according to standard swimrun regulations.
The event site provides washrooms for participants, and food is provided on-site. The competition proceeds in most weather conditions, though delays may occur in the event of lightning. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
