Muddy Shamrock @ The Forge

Muddy Shamrock @ The Forge is an early-season trail running event at The Forge: Lemont Quarries in Lemont, Illinois (227 Heritage Quarries Dr., 60439). The event uses wooded single and double track trails, mountain bike trails, and gravel sections around the historic quarries.

The course surface includes dirt, mud, roots, rocks, stumps, grass, and some short steep inclines and downhills. Gravel sections are mostly flat while single and double track sections present variable and occasionally technical terrain. Trail running shoes are recommended. The course uses a common start and finish line; the half marathon covers two laps and the quarter marathon covers one lap.

• Trail Half Marathon approximately 13.1 +/- miles
• Trail Quarter Marathon approximately 6.6 +/- miles

There will be one aid station with water and sports drinks located at the beginning of the second lap for the half; participants are advised to plan on carrying personal hydration and fuel. Race entry includes chip-timed results with live splits, an event T-shirt, age group and overall awards, and a post-race gathering with food and beverages. Packet pick-up includes a bib with timing tag and swag for the first 200 registrants. Awards are given for overall male and female, masters, 10-year age groups, and additional categories.
