Fancy Nonsense Palos Trail 25K/50K
Fancy Nonsense is a trail ultra scheduled for October 24, 2026, relocated to Deer Grove Forest Preserve for one year because of construction at Palos Forest Preserve. The event is organized as a grassroots trail race and offers multiple looped-distance options.
The course is a 5.5 mile loop that is described as mostly single track with some double track mixed in and entirely runnable. Runners complete repeated loops to reach their chosen distance. Major intersections will be marked and all entrants receive a fully marked course map at packet pickup. There will be a short pre-race briefing to review course markings.

- 50K (repeated 5.5 mile loops)
Aid stations and support follow event rules: the 25K uses two aid stations and the 50K uses five aid stations. Stations are stocked with water, soda, snacks, doughnuts, and other items. Crews may contact runners only at aid stations. Pacers are not allowed.
Prize money is offered for top finishers in the men’s, women’s, and non-binary divisions: $400 for first, $200 for second, and $100 for third. Dogs on leash and families are noted as welcome participants on the trails. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
