MTC Scotia 2028 : event overview
The MTC Scotia is a nine-day end-to-end ultrarunning challenge from Gretna Green to John O'Groats. The route covers approximately 370 miles with total ascent of 26,629 ft and total descent of 26,625 ft. Organisers provide hotel accommodation for eight nights, support during the event, and food provisions for breakfasts and evening meals. Competitor places are limited to 20. The event is part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge series and its nine days form the Myths & Legends of Scotia.

Stops include Innerleithen, Edinburgh, Perth, Pitlochry, Kingussie, Inverness, Dornoch and Dunbeath. All entrants receive route maps and GPX files four weeks before the event; live tracking devices with SOS functionality are issued to competitors. The race is cup-free; runners must supply their own reusable cup. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone and basic first aid. Entry options include a standard fee structure and a charity entry route; the nominated charity is Spinal Research. Minimum age for entry is 20 years. Minimum average speed requirement is 4 mph per day; falling below this may result in withdrawal. No competitor will be allowed to continue on course after 22:00.
