The Mount to Coast Scotia
The MTC Scotia is a 370-mile multi-day ultra marathon that spans nine days across Scotland. As part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge Series, the route follows a northwards trajectory starting from Gretna Green and concluding at John O'Groats. The event is structured into nine individual ultra races, with participants averaging approximately 41 miles per day.
The course stops at several locations including Innerleithen, Edinburgh, Perth, Pitlochry, Kingussie, Inverness, Dornoch, and Dunbeath. Each day of the challenge is themed after various figures from Scottish folklore, known as the Myths and Legends of Scotia.

- Day 1: 55.1 miles
- Day 2: 31.3 miles
- Day 3: 40.6 miles
- Day 4: 35.2 miles
- Day 5: 43.1 miles
- Day 6: 39 miles
- Day 7: 45.2 miles
- Day 8: 42.6 miles
- Day 9: 38.2 miles
The event includes eight nights of shared hotel, hostel, or B&B accommodation along the route. Support is provided in the form of food, including breakfast and evening meals, and check-point snacks such as sandwiches, malt loaf, and fruit. This is a cup-free event, and participants must carry mandatory safety kit including a GPS device, head torch, and first aid kit. A minimum speed requirement of 4 mph is enforced throughout the duration of the race. All finishers receive a trophy, a medal, and a bottle of champagne. Participation is limited to 20 competitors.
