MTC REDCAP
The Mount to Coast REDCAP is a single day ultra running event covering 55.1 miles. The route starts at the Gretna Chase Hotel in Gretna and finishes at the Traquair Arms Hotel in Innerleithen. The MTC REDCAP also serves as Day 1 of the nine day MTC SCOTIA end to end challenge, so REDCAP competitors will run alongside SCOTIA multi-day entrants.
Check points are positioned along the route at approximately 10.6 miles (Lockerbie), 21.4 miles (Langholm), 32.4 miles (Selkirk), and 43.1 miles (Selkirk) before the finish at 55.1 miles. The race is cup free so competitors must bring a reusable cup. Example checkpoint food items include malt loaf, cake, sandwiches, sweets, squash, cola and water.
The event enforces a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph with preset cut-off points; competitors who fall below this requirement may be withdrawn. Competitor numbers are limited to 20 plus an additional allowance of 20 for SCOTIA entrants, giving a maximum of 40 starters. URL provides competitors with tracking devices that support real time monitoring and an SOS function. Maps and GPX files are supplied to entrants by email approximately four weeks before the event.
Entry fees are stated as £90 for the standard entry and £155 for the Plus Race Package which includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi‑viz race jacket.
