MTC REDCAP
The MTC REDCAP is a single day ultra running event covering 55.1 miles. The course starts at the Gretna Chase Hotel, Gretna, and concludes at the Traquair Arms Hotel in Innerleithen. The race is also run as Day 1 of the MTC SCOTIA nine day end to end series, so REDCAP competitors will run alongside SCOTIA entrants where both fields overlap.
Entry is limited to 20 standard places with an additional allowance of 20 places for SCOTIA competitors giving a maximum field of 40. All entrants must meet the organiser age requirement and the event enforces a minimum average pace requirement of 4.0 miles per hour; competitors falling below this threshold may be withdrawn. The event is cup free so competitors should bring a reusable cup.
Maps and GPX files are provided only to registered entrants and are emailed approximately four weeks before the event. The organiser issues tracking devices to competitors to enable real time monitoring and an SOS facility. Checkpoints are placed at predetermined locations and provide example foods such as malt loaf, sandwiches, sweets, squash, cola and water.
Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, the route maps supplied, a compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid kit, emergency food pack and a waterproof map case. Finishers receive a bespoke REDCAP medal and male and female champions receive trophies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
