MTC REDCAP
The MTC REDCAP is a single day ultra covering 55.1 miles. The route starts at the Gretna Chase Hotel, Gretna, and finishes at the Traquair Arms Hotel, Innerleithen. The event is also Day 1 of the nine day MTC SCOTIA series, so REDCAP competitors will run alongside SCOTIA entrants.
Entries are limited to 20 competitors with an additional allowance of 20 SCOTIA competitors, giving a maximum field of 40. All entrants must meet the organiser age requirement of at least 20 years on race day. There are preset cut-off points and a minimum average speed requirement of 4.0 miles per hour; competitors who fall below this standard may be withdrawn. Organisers may remove any competitor they consider unfit to continue.
All finishers receive a REDCAP medal and male and female champions receive trophies. Entry options include a standard entry and a Plus Race Package priced to include an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight high visibility jacket, which must be ordered at least four weeks before the event to guarantee clothing supply. All payments are non refundable; a personal cancellation insurance option is offered at booking and a defer option is available for a fee.
Maps and GPX files are provided only to entrants and are emailed around four weeks before the race. The race is cup free; competitors should bring a reusable cup. Competitors will be issued tracking devices with an SOS function and are required to carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food.
