MTC REDCAP
The MTC REDCAP is a single day ultra run covering 55.1 miles. It forms Day 1 of the MTC SCOTIA nine day end to end challenge and shares part of its field with SCOTIA competitors. The advertised route starts at the Gretna Chase Hotel and finishes at the Traquair Arms Hotel in Innerleithen.
Entry is limited to 20 competitors plus an additional allowance of 20 SCOTIA entrants for a maximum field of 40. The published entry fee options are a standard entry at £90.00 and a Plus Race Package at £155.00 which includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi viz race jacket if purchased at checkout at least four weeks before the event. All fees are non refundable. Competitors may add a personal cancellation insurance policy at booking and a defer option is available for a fee up to four weeks before the event.
The event enforces a minimum average speed of 4.0 miles per hour with preset cut off times at checkpoints; competitors falling below the minimum or judged unfit may be withdrawn. The race is cup free so competitors must bring a reusable cup. Maps and GPX files are supplied to entrants four weeks before the race. Organisers provide competitor tracking devices with SOS capability.
Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, emergency food and a basic first aid kit. Finishers receive a REDCAP medal and male and female champions receive bespoke trophies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
