The MTC REDCAP event
The MTC REDCAP is a single-day ultra running event on 29th May 2027 covering 55.1 miles. It is Day 1 of the MTC SCOTIA nine-day end-to-end of Scotland and is part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge series. The route starts at the Gretna Chase Hotel and finishes at the Traquair Arms Hotel in Innerleithen. Competitor numbers are limited to 20 for the REDCAP plus an additional allowance of 20 SCOTIA competitors, for a maximum of 40 entrants. The 1st edition is listed by the organiser.
Entry, logistics and rules
Entry fee options are: MTC REDCAP £90.00, or MTC REDCAP Plus Race Package £155.00 which includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi-viz race jacket if selected at least four weeks before the event. All fees and deposits are non refundable; a personal cancellation insurance option is offered at checkout and a defer option is available for a £15 fee up to four weeks before the event.
Checkpoints are at Lockerbie (10.6 miles), Langholm (21.4 miles), Selkirk (32.4 miles and 43.1 miles) and the finish at Innerleithen (55.1 miles). The event enforces a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph and has preset cut-off points; competitors who fall below the minimum may be withdrawn. The race is cup-free; entrants must bring a reusable cup. Organisers provide competitor tracking devices with SOS capability and will supply maps and GPX files to entrants about four weeks before the event. Entrants must be at least 20 years old on the start day and must carry required kit including a backpack, head torch and spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and two emergency chocolate bars.
