MTC REDCAP
The MTC REDCAP is a single day ultra run held on 27 May 2028 and listed as the first day of the nine day MTC SCOTIA end to end series. The route covers approximately 55.1 miles, starting at the Gretna Chase Hotel in Gretna and concluding at the Traquair Arms Hotel in Innerleithen.
The course includes pre‑determined check points at roughly 10.6 miles (Lockerbie), 21.4 miles (Langholm), 32.4 miles (Selkirk) and 43.1 miles (Selkirk). Organisers operate preset cut off points based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors who fall below that minimum may be withdrawn. Competitor numbers are limited to 20 entries plus an allowance of 20 MTC SCOTIA entrants, for a maximum of 40 participants.
Entrants must be aged at least 20 years on the start day. All deposits and payments are non refundable, though a personal cancellation insurance option is available at checkout and a defer option is offered for a fee within specified deadlines. Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants by email about four weeks before the event. URL issues tracking devices with SOS capability to competitors.
Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food (two chocolate bars). The race is cup free; participants must use a reusable cup. Finishers receive a REDCAP medal and male and female champions receive trophies; medals and trophies are currently in the design stage.
