MTC NUCKELAVEE
The MTC NUCKELAVEE is a single-day ultra that forms Day 3 of the MTC SCOTIA nine day End to End challenge. The event takes place on 29 May 2028 and is listed as the first edition. The route runs from Travelodge Edinburgh Airport to Travelodge Perth A9 and is approximately 40.1 miles long with about 2,712 ft of ascent and 2,733 ft of descent. All finishers receive a bespoke NUCKELAVEE medal; male and female champions also receive trophies.
Entry is limited to 20 direct race competitors with an additional allowance of 20 SCOTIA entrants, giving a maximum of 40 runners. Standard entry fee is £90.00; a Plus Race Package is available at £155.00 and includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi-viz jacket if ordered at least four weeks before the event. All deposits and payments are non-refundable; a personal cancellation insurance option is offered at checkout. Race mapping and GPX files are provided by email to entrants four weeks before the event.
Course, rules and logistics
The route has preset cut-off times based on a minimum average speed of 4 mph; competitors who fall below this requirement may receive a warning and can be withdrawn. The race is cup-free, so competitors must bring a reusable cup. Check-point food may include malt loaf, cake, sandwiches, sweets, squash, cola and water.
Competitors must carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone and a basic first aid kit. Organisers provide tracking devices with real-time tracking and an SOS button. Entrants must be 20 years or over on the start day and follow the designated route and checkpoint procedures.
