MTC NUCKELAVEE
The MTC NUCKELAVEE is a single-day ultra run forming Day 3 of the MTC SCOTIA nine day End to End of Scotland. The published route runs from Travelodge Edinburgh Airport to Travelodge Perth A9 and the total route distance is given as 40.1 miles with about 2,700 ft of ascent and descent.
Entry is limited to 20 standard competitors with an additional allowance of 20 SCOTIA entrants, giving a maximum of 40 runners. The event enforces a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors who fall below this threshold may be withdrawn. Ultra Running Ltd uses preset cut-off points along the route and provides a tracking device with an SOS function to entrants. Maps and GPX files are sent to competitors four weeks before the event.
Finishers receive a NUCKELAVEE medal and male and female champions receive trophies; medals and trophies are noted as still being in the design stage. The event is cup-free so runners should provide a reusable cup. Entry fees are listed as £90 for the standard entry and £155 for the Plus Race Package, which includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi-viz jacket if purchased at least four weeks before the event.
Mandatory kit requirements include a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, emergency food and a basic first aid kit. Competitors must be aged 20 years or over on the start day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
