MTC NUCKELAVEE
The MTC NUCKELAVEE is a long single day ultra that forms Day 3 of the nine day MTC Scotia End to End series. The route runs from Travelodge Edinburgh Airport to Travelodge Perth A9 and is given as 40.1 miles in the route data. Total ascent is listed as 2,712 ft with descent of 2,733 ft.
Entries are limited to 20 race-only places with an additional allowance of 20 places for Scotia competitors, giving a maximum field of 40. Organisers state that all entrants must be at least 20 years old on the day. The event is cup free; competitors must provide a reusable cup.
Organisers set preset cut-off requirements based on a minimum average of 4.0 miles per hour. Competitors who fall below this minimum may be withdrawn. Maps and GPX files are supplied to entrants only and are emailed about four weeks before the race. Each competitor receives a tracking device with real-time monitoring and an SOS function.
Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps as provided by the organiser, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and blister treatment, and an emergency food pack. Finishers receive a NUCKELAVEE medal and male and female winners receive bespoke trophies.
