MTC LEJOG 2026
The MTC LEJOG is a 17 day multi day road event that follows the classic route from John O'Groats to Land's End. The route is almost entirely on roads and the organiser updates it annually to improve safety and the running experience. Entry is limited to 12 competitors.
Organisers provide personalised hi viz clothing including a jacket and six technical tops, and a pair of road running shoes approximately 4 to 6 weeks before the event. Maps and GPX files are supplied to entrants only, sent about four weeks before the start. Each competitor receives a tracking device with an SOS function for monitoring during the race.
The event enforces a minimum average speed of 4 mph. Preset cut off times apply and competitors who fall below the minimum over consecutive days will be withdrawn. No competitor will be permitted to continue on course after 22:00. The race is cup free so entrants should bring a reusable cup.
Accommodation is provided at the end of Day 1 through to the end of Day 16 on a shared room basis, with private rooms by prior arrangement. Check points are normally around eight mile intervals and are flexible depending on competitor needs. Example check point food includes malt loaf, sandwiches, sweets, squash, cola and water. Entrants complete a dietary form and may be asked to supply supplementary food for special dietary needs.
Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone and a basic first aid kit. Trail shoes are advisable for a short section on Day 6.
Distance and climbing data are published for the route and include total ascent and descent figures. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
