Event overview
The MTC LEJOG is a 17-day multi-day road event that follows the classic Lands End to John O'Groats route in reverse, running from John O'Groats to Lands End. The route is almost all on road. Competitor numbers are limited to 12. The event dates listed are 25th Sept - 11th Oct 2026. Organisers provide branded hi-viz clothing and, approximately 4-6 weeks before the event, a pair of road shoes for each fully paid competitor. The event carries UTMB points.
Format, rules and logistics
The organisers set preset cut-off requirements based on a minimum average of 4 mph; competitors who remain below this threshold may be withdrawn. No runner is permitted to continue on the course after 22:00. Accommodation is provided from the end of Day 1 to the end of Day 16; competitors must arrange accommodation at Lands End and after finishing at John O'Groats. Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants four weeks before the event and real-time tracking is available during the race; organisers supply a tracking device with an SOS function. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone and a basic first aid kit. The event operates a cup-free policy; competitors must bring a reusable cup.
