Event

The MTC Black Shuck is a single-day ultra race held on 19 July 2029. The race distance is 45 miles. It forms Day 10 of the MTC ALBION thirteen-day end-to-end of England and uses the same route as the organiser's MTC JOGLE event but with reduced daily distances. This is the first edition of the MTC Black Shuck.

Route and logistics

The route starts at Premier Inn, Bridgewater North and finishes at Union Road Moto Velo, covering a total of 45 miles with a series of four intermediate checkpoints. Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants only and are emailed to competitors approximately four weeks before the event. The organiser issues a tracking device with an SOS button so individual progress can be monitored in real time. The event is cup-free; competitors should bring a reusable cup.

Entry, kit and rules

Entry is limited to 20 regular places, with an additional allowance of 20 places for ALBION competitors (maximum 40). Entry fees are listed as £90 for the ultra and £155 for a plus package that includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi-viz race jacket if ordered at least four weeks before the event. All payments are non-refundable; competitors may add personal cancellation insurance at booking. The race has preset cut-offs based on a minimum average speed of 4 mph and competitors who fall below this requirement may be withdrawn. Entrants must be 20 years or over and carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, emergency food and a basic first aid kit. Finishers receive a Black Shuck medal; male and female champions receive trophies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
