MTC Black Shuck
The MTC Black Shuck is a 45 mile ultra running event that forms Day 10 of the Mount to Coast ALBION end to end challenge. The single day route follows the same line used by the MTC JOGLE event but with reduced daily distances, running from Bridgwater through to Crediton. The published start location is Premier Inn, Bridgewater North (TA6 4RR) and the finish is at Union Road Moto Velo (EX17 3AL). Competitors on the Black Shuck will run alongside ALBION entrants.
Entry is limited to 20 Black Shuck places with an additional allowance of 20 ALBION competitors for a maximum field of 40. All entrants must be at least 20 years old on the start day. Entry fees are specified as £90 for the standard ultra and £155 for the Plus Race Package, which includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi‑viz jacket when ordered at least four weeks before the event. Deposits and payments are non refundable; competitors may add optional personal cancellation insurance during checkout.
The event uses preset cut off points based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; falling below this minimum can lead to withdrawal. Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants four weeks before the race and the organiser issues a tracking device with an SOS function. The race is cup free. Competitors must carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch and spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food.
