MTC Black Shuck
The MTC Black Shuck is a single day ultra running event of 45 miles held on 19 July 2029. The route runs from Bridgwater through to Crediton and follows the same course used by the organiser's JOGLE event but with reduced daily distances. The finish is at Union Road Moto Velo in Crediton.
The race forms Day 10 of the MTC ALBION series, a thirteen day end to end challenge of England. Competitor numbers are limited to 20 for the standalone event, with an additional allowance of 20 places for ALBION entrants, making a maximum field of 40.
The organiser applies preset cut-off times along the route calculated from a minimum average speed of 4 mph; competitors who fall below this requirement may be withdrawn. Navigation and GPX files are provided to registered entrants only and will be emailed approximately four weeks before the event. Each competitor receives a tracking device with an SOS button for monitoring and safety.
Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone and a basic first aid kit. The event is cup free and finishers receive a Black Shuck medal; male and female champions are also awarded bespoke trophies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
