MTC Black Shuck

Route and Distances
The MTC Black Shuck is a single day ultra marathon covering a total distance of 45 miles. The course starts in Bridgwater and concludes at Crediton. This race follows the same route established for the JOGLE event but features a shorter daily distance.

The event is also integrated into a larger multi-day challenge known as ALBION, serving as the tenth day of a 13-day journey across England. Participation is limited to 20 individual race entries, with an additional 20 spots reserved for those completing the full Albion series.
Course Features and Logistics
The route includes four pre-determined checkpoints positioned at various intervals to provide support:
- CP1: Monkton Heathfield (8.9 miles)
- CP2: Wellington (19.4 miles)
- CP3: Willand (27.6 miles)
- CP4: Bickleigh (36.3 miles)
Participants are required to maintain a minimum average speed of 4 mph throughout the duration of the event. Checkpoints provide snacks such as malt loaf, sandwiches, sweets, and various drinks. This is a cup-free event, meaning runners must carry their own reusable drinking vessels.
Requirements and Recognition
All participants are provided with a tracking device for safety and progress monitoring. Mandatory equipment includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, and a basic first aid kit. All finishers receive a bespoke medal, while male and female champions are awarded unique trophies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
