MTC Black Shuck
The MTC Black Shuck is a 45 mile single day ultra held on 19 July 2029, running from Bridgwater to Crediton. The route follows the same course used for the MTC JOGLE event and forms Day 10 of the MTC Albion thirteen day end to end of England series. The start location is Premier Inn, Bridgwater North (TA6 4RR) and the finish is at Union Road Moto Velo (EX17 3AL).
Field size is limited to 20 entries plus an additional allowance of 20 Albion competitors, giving a maximum of 40 runners. The event enforces preset cut-off rules based on a minimum average speed of 4 mph; competitors who fall below this threshold may be withdrawn. The race is cup-free; competitors must provide their own reusable cup.
All finishers receive a bespoke Black Shuck medal. Male and female champions receive bespoke trophies; trophy designs remain in development. Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants only and are emailed to competitors approximately four weeks before the event. Entry fees are non-refundable; published entry options are: MTC Black Shuck Ultra £90.00 and MTC Black Shuck Plus Race Package £155.00, with the Plus option including an embroidered race shirt and hi-viz jacket when purchased at least four weeks before the event. Competitors may add optional personal cancellation insurance at checkout.
Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food, and a waterproof map case. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
