MTC Black Shuck
The MTC Black Shuck is a single day ultra running race of 45 miles from Bridgwater to Crediton. The route follows the same course used by the MTC JOGLE event but with reduced daily distances. The event also serves as Day 10 of the MTC ALBION thirteen day end to end of England challenge.
Competitor numbers are limited to 20 entries plus an allowance of 20 Albion competitors for a maximum of 40 starters. The organiser enforces preset cut off times along the route based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 miles per hour; competitors who fall below this requirement may be withdrawn. The organiser may also remove any competitor considered not fit to continue.
All finishers receive a Black Shuck medal. Male and female champions will receive trophies which are currently in the design stage. Entrants may upgrade at checkout to a race shirt and lightweight hi viz jacket; the upgrade must be completed at least four weeks before the event to guarantee clothing supply. Entry fees are non refundable. A personal cancellation insurance option is offered at booking.
Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants only and are emailed about four weeks before the race. Each competitor receives a tracking device with an SOS function and real time tracking is available during the race. The event is cup free so competitors should bring a reusable cup. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and an emergency food pack.
