MTC Black Shuck
The MTC Black Shuck is a single-day ultra run covering 45 miles from Bridgwater through to Crediton. It forms Day 10 of the MTC ALBION thirteen day end-to-end of England and follows the same route used in the MTC JOGLE event but with reduced daily distances.
Entry is limited to 20 competitors plus an allowance of 20 ALBION entrants for a maximum of 40 participants. The organisers set preset cut-off points based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 miles per hour; competitors who remain below this threshold may be withdrawn. The race is cup-free and finishers receive a bespoke Black Shuck medal; male and female champions receive trophies.
Start and finish locations are listed by the organiser and the route includes four intermediate check points at set mileages. Check-point food can include malt loaf, cakes, sandwiches, sweets, squash, cola and water, and competitors are asked to declare dietary needs. Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants only and are emailed before the event. Organisers supply tracking devices with SOS capability and real-time tracking is available during the race.
Participants must carry mandatory kit such as a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food. All entrants must be 20 years or over on the start day and all entry fees are non refundable. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
