MTC BEITHIR (3 June 2027)
The MTC BEITHIR is a one-day ultra event listed at 39 miles (route total also shown as 38.5 miles) and is the sixth day of the nine-day MTC SCOTIA end-to-end challenge. This is the first edition. Total ascent is 2,256 ft and total descent is 2,978 ft. Competitor numbers are limited to 20 regular entries plus an additional allowance of 20 for SCOTIA entrants, for a maximum of 40. Entry fee is £90, or a £155 race package that includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi-viz jacket if purchased at least four weeks before the event. All deposits and payments are non-refundable; entrants may add optional personal cancellation insurance at checkout. All finishers receive a BEITHIR medal; male and female champions receive bespoke trophies.
Route, kit and rules
The route runs from Kingussie (Forces Manor) to Inverness (Travelodge Inverness) with checkpoint locations at Boat of Garten (around 9.5 miles), an Inverness checkpoint at roughly 19.1 miles, and a further checkpoint near National Cycle Route 7 at about 28.3 miles. The organiser provides tracking devices and GPX/maps to entrants only, emailed four weeks before the event. The race is cup-free; competitors must bring a reusable cup. A minimum average speed of 4.0 mph applies; competitors who fall below this rate may be withdrawn. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food.
