MTC BEITHIR overview
MTC BEITHIR is a single-day ultra run scheduled for 1 June 2028. It is listed as a 39-mile race and is presented as Day 6 of the MTC SCOTIA nine-day end-to-end of Scotland. The course runs from Forces Manor in Kingussie to Travelodge Inverness. The event edition is the first, with total ascent of 2,256 ft and total descent of 2,978 ft. Finishers receive a BEITHIR medal; male and female champions receive trophies (design pending).
Route, entries and rules
The route includes three main checkpoints and a finish, with segment distances given as: CP1 at Boat of Garten (9.5 miles), CP2 in Inverness (9.6 miles; 19.1 miles cumulative), CP3 on National Cycle Route 7 (9.2 miles; 28.3 miles cumulative), and a final leg to Travelodge Inverness (10.2 miles; total 38.5 miles listed). Cut-off times at checkpoints are set relative to the race start (CP1 closes 2 hr 50 min, CP2 closes 4 hr 50 min, CP3 closes 7 hr 10 min). A minimum average speed of 4.0 mph is enforced; competitors who fall below this may be withdrawn.
Entries are limited to 20 competitors plus up to 20 additional SCOTIA entrants (maximum 40). Entry fees are stated as £90 for standard entry or £155 for the race package including an embroidered shirt and hi-viz jacket if ordered at least four weeks before the event. Entry fees and deposits are non-refundable; a defer option is available for a fee. Mandatory kit and safety provisions include a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid, emergency food, and a waterproof map case.
