MTC BEITHIR
The MTC BEITHIR is a single-day ultra run listed at approximately 39 miles and presented as the sixth day of the MTC SCOTIA nine day end to end challenge. The first edition routes competitors from Forces Manor in Kingussie to Travelodge Inverness, with route ascent of about 2,256 ft and descent of about 2,978 ft.
Entry is restricted to a maximum of 20 race-only places plus an allowance of 20 SCOTIA competitors, for a total field limit of 40. Organisers enforce preset cut-off points based on a minimum average speed of 4 mph; falling below that requirement can result in withdrawal. Entrants must be 20 years or over on the race day.
Finishers receive a bespoke BEITHIR medal; male and female champions receive trophies. An optional race package is available that includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi-viz race jacket; this package must be ordered at least four weeks before the event to guarantee clothing supply. Entry fees are stated and non refundable, and competitors may add a personal cancellation insurance policy at booking.
Maps and GPX files are supplied only to entrants and are emailed approximately four weeks before the race. Real-time competitor tracking is available via the organisers' map link during the event. The race is cup free so competitors must bring a reusable cup. Required kit includes a backpack, head torch and spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food.
