Aviemore Triathlon
Aviemore Triathlon takes place on 13th September 2026 at the Badaguish Outdoor Centre, Loch Morlich, in Glenmore Forest within the Cairngorms National Park. The Long Hard Durty course is the designated British and Scottish Triathlon Cross Championship event for 2026.
There are two distance options:
- Long Hard Durty: 1,000 m open water swim, 18 km technical mountain bike, 9 km trail run.
- Short Fast Durty: 500 m open water swim, 12 km mountain bike, 5 km trail run.
Swims use Loch Morlich water with wetsuits compulsory; Long Hard is two laps, Short Fast is one lap, both deep water starts. The mountain bike sections combine forest roads, easier tracks and singletrack; the Long Hard course includes steeper red and black technical sections. Mountain bikes and helmets are compulsory for the Long Hard Durty and gravel bikes are not permitted on that course. The run uses forest trails and rough ground, with the Long Hard Durty including an open hill running section with wide views.
Event services and facilities are provided from Badaguish Outdoor Centre and include water safety cover, race medical first aid, chip timing, aid stations and a finisher’s T shirt or an option to donate to the nominated charity. Camping pitches and pods with showers and toilets are available on site. Sustainability measures include no disposable cups at feed stations and recyclable race numbers.
