MTC Angelystor - Ultra Running
The MTC Angelystor is a single-day ultra running event on Anglesey that follows National Cycle Route 8 for the majority of the route. The course runs from The Boat House Hotel in Holyhead to the Travelodge in Caernarfon and covers approximately 37.5 miles.
The event is Day 1 of the six-day MTC CYMRUN end-to-end of Wales. Competitor numbers are limited to 20 for the Angelystor, with an additional allowance of 20 places for CYMRUN entrants (maximum 40 race numbers). All finishers receive an Angelystor medal; male and female champions receive bespoke trophies. Entrants can optionally upgrade to a race shirt and lightweight hi-viz jacket when entering; clothing orders must be placed at least four weeks before the event to guarantee supply.
Organisers operate preset cut-off points based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors falling below this requirement may be withdrawn. Checkpoints are located at RAF Valley Park, Bethel and Gaerwen, with checkpoint food examples including malt loaf, sandwiches, sweets, squash, cola and water. The race is cup-free so competitors must bring their own reusable cup.
Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants only and are emailed about four weeks before the event. Competitors are issued tracking devices with SOS functionality and must carry mandatory kit such as a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone and basic first aid items. Entrants must meet the event age requirement, carry mandatory kit and comply with organiser rules and safety instructions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
