MTC Angelystor

The MTC Angelystor is a new ultra event scheduled for 14 April 2026 and staged once every four years. It is the first day of the six-day MTC CYMRUN end-to-end of Wales and forms part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge Series. The race follows National Cycle Route 8 for most of the route with a short deviation of about one mile at the start.

Race details

The route covers approximately 37.5 miles with total ascent of 1,980 ft and total descent of 1,973 ft. The event starts at the Boathouse Hotel, Holyhead, and finishes at the Travelodge, Caernarfon. Check points are located at RAF Valley Park (around 7.8 miles), Bethel (about 16.8 miles), and Gaerwen (about 25.2 miles) before the finish. Competitor numbers are limited to 20 race-only entries plus an allowance of 20 CYMRUN entrants, maximum 40. The race enforces minimum progress based on a 4 mph average; competitors who fall below this requirement may be withdrawn. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food. Entry fees are listed as £90 for the ultra or £155 for a package that includes a race shirt and hi-viz jacket; all finishers receive an Angelystor medal and male and female champions receive trophies.
