About the race
The MTC Angelystor is a single-day ultra running event covering approximately 37.5 miles along National Cycle Route 8 from Holyhead to Caernarfon. The route remains on the cycle route for most of the course, with a short deviation of around one mile near the start at the Boathouse Hotel. The event is day 1 of the six-day MTC CYMRUN end-to-end of Wales. Entries are limited to 20 race-only competitors plus an additional allowance of 20 CYMRUN competitors (maximum 40).
The organisers provide route maps and GPX files to entrants only, emailed about four weeks before the event. Competitors will also receive a tracking device with an SOS function for real-time monitoring during the race. Cut-off times are enforced along the route and are based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors who fall below this threshold may be withdrawn. The race is cup-free and runners must bring a reusable cup.
Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, maps as provided, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid including blister treatment, emergency food (two chocolate bars), and a waterproof map case. All finishers receive an Angelystor medal. An optional race package upgrade includes an official race shirt and a lightweight hi-vis jacket; this option should be selected at check-out to guarantee clothing supply.
