The Mt. Diablo Half Marathon is a point-to-point road race of 13.1 miles that descends from Mt. Diablo State Park into Walnut Creek. The course has a net descent of 3,664 ft and begins at an elevation of about 3,849 ft, finishing at Arbolado Park. The event is produced by Team Blue Sky Events in partnership with the City of Walnut Creek and limits the field to 1,344 runners.
The route follows quiet park roads through oak-dotted foothills before continuing into Walnut Creek's tree-lined neighborhoods and ending in the park. The course is closed within the park, and spectators are not allowed there. Aid support includes four stations offering water, electrolytes, and fruit. Pace teams are available with target finish times from 1:30 to 2:30.
Entry is structured in three pricing windows with fees that increase as race day approaches. Published entry amounts are Early Bird $115 through September 30, 2026; Standard $135 from October 2026 through February 2027; and Final $155 from March 2027 through race week.
