Move With MADD 5K
The Move With MADD 5K and Fun Run is a competitive sports event held in Charleston, South Carolina. The event takes place at Hampton Park, specifically near the gazebo area on Mary Murray Drive. This event serves as a fundraiser for Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) to support initiatives focused on ending impaired driving and improving road safety.
Participants have two distances to choose from:
- 3.1 Miles (5K Run)
- 100 Yards (Fun Run)
The 3.1 Miles race is a timed competition. Recognition is provided for the top three male and female finishers, along with awards categorized by age groups. The shorter 100 Yards Fun Run is a non-competitive event and does not include awards. The course is situated within the public park grounds.
Participants collect their race packets on the morning of the event at the park. Following the conclusion of the running events, a ceremony is held where attendees can meet families impacted by impaired driving and learn about the organization's mission. Runners are also permitted to participate in the subsequent remembrance walk at no additional cost as a cool-down activity. This walk begins after the formal ceremony.
