About the race
The Mountain Man Memorial March is a two day event on April 9–10, 2027, in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The event is based at Pi Beta Phi Elementary School with pre and post race activities adjacent to the school. It includes in-person running and march events plus virtual options. The event hosts Gold Star Families and includes a Gold Star Family Ceremony at the Gatlinburg Convention Center Mills Auditorium.
Distances offered include:
- 26.2 miles full marathon or full march
- 13.1 miles half marathon or half march
- 10K (6.2 miles) run
- 5K (3.1 miles) run
- Virtual options including 5K, half marathon, and flexible march distances
March categories include individual, buddy team (2 members), and full team (5 members) divisions in civilian and military classifications. Military categories require military affiliation; civilians may not register in military categories. Heavy and Light march categories carry uniform and ruck weight requirements. Team entries require team members to finish together.
The route travels through Gatlinburg and into the Smoky Mountains over paved and gravel roads and other uneven terrain with flat sections, rolling hills, and steep climbs. Support along the route includes water points, snacks, medical aid, and staff; participants are advised to carry adequate water and fuel. Registered participants and volunteers will receive three hot meals provided by a nonprofit partner. All registrations are online only and pre-race packet pick up details will be published later.
