Mountain Man Memorial March
The Mountain Man Memorial March is scheduled for April 10–11, 2026 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The 19th annual event includes both march and run programs with in-person and virtual options, and it hosts a ceremony for Gold Star Families.
The event is based at Pi Beta Phi Elementary School with pre and post race activities adjacent to the school. Organizers report coordination with the City of Gatlinburg and Sevier County Schools and a partnership with Legacies Alive, a 501(c)(3) organization that will provide a free hot meal after the event.
The march program offers full and half distances and includes individual and team divisions, civilian and military categories, and Heavy and Light classifications that carry uniform and rucksack weight requirements. Military categories require military affiliation. The run program includes standard distance categories separated by gender and age.
Courses start in Gatlinburg and pass into the Smoky Mountains. Surfaces include paved road, gravel road, and other uneven terrain with flat stretches, rolling hills, and steep climbs. Water points, snacks, medical aid and support staff will be positioned along the route, and participants are advised to carry personal water and fuel.
Additional details such as packet pick-up, official category breakdowns, and course maps follow previous years. All registrations are online only. A Gold Star Family ceremony will be held at the Gatlinburg Convention Center and an opening ceremony will precede the Saturday races. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
