Mountain Man Memorial March
The Mountain Man Memorial March is a two day memorial event in Gatlinburg, Tennessee on April 9 to 10, 2027. It is organized by a nonprofit 501(c)(3) dedicated to honoring fallen service members and supporting Gold Star Families. The event takes place around Pi Beta Phi Elementary School in Gatlinburg and has drawn more than 1,000 participants in recent years.
The program includes multiple march and run options offered as team, buddy, individual, JROTC, and virtual events. Event formats and example distances include:
- 26.2 mile Full Marathon and military heavy full march
- 13.1 mile Half Marathon and multiple half march formats
- 6.2 mile 10K run and 3.1 mile 5K run
- Virtual options for 5K, half marathon, and other chosen distances
The March provides lodging for attending Gold Star Families and partners with Legacies Alive, a 501(c)(3) that prepares three hot meals for registered participants and volunteers. Funds raised through the March, a related October golf scramble, donations, and sponsorships support Gold Star Family travel, lodging, and future initiatives such as scholarship endowments.
