Mount Maunganui Half Marathon
The Mount Maunganui Half Marathon is a running festival held on Saturday 29 August 2026 at Mount Maunganui Surf Club, 21 Adams Ave, Mount Maunganui 3116. The event offers multiple distances:
- 21 km half marathon
- 10 km race
- 5 km race
The course uses flat, sealed road surfaces and the start and finish are at the surf club on the Mount Maunganui beachfront. Wave starts are used for the 21 km and 10 km events; waves are self-seeding and runners are asked to gather in the appropriate zone for ability and expected finish time. The 5 km has a single wave start. Walkers are permitted in all events and are asked to start at the back and keep to the left on the course.
Aid stations are placed along the courses. For the 21 km event there are aid stations at 3 km, 6 km, 9 km, 12 km, 14.5 km and 18 km supplying water and PURE Electrolyte Hydration. The 10 km has aid stations at 3 km and 7 km. The 5 km is supported at the finish line.
All finishers in the 21 km, 10 km and 5 km receive a finisher medal. Medals for 21 km and 10 km are awarded 1st to 3rd in each age group by mat time; the 5 km awards the top five men and women overall. A major spot prize draw for a river cruise is held at the awards; the prize has a listed value of $19,900. Registration, late entry and bag check services are provided at the surf club. Entries are non-refundable and may be transferred up to the Thursday of event week; entries cannot be deferred more than 12 months. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
