Mount Maunganui Half Marathon
The Mount Maunganui Half Marathon is a coastal running festival held on Saturday 29 August 2026 at Mount Maunganui. The event offers three distances:
- 21 km
- 10 km
- 5 km
The course is described as flat and fast with sealed road surfaces. Start and finish areas are located at Mount Maunganui Surf Club on the beach (21 Adams Ave, Mount Maunganui). Course maps for the 2026 routes have been updated due to closure of Mauao and the base track.
Wave starts are used for the half marathon and 10 km events; waves are self-seeding so runners gather in zones based on ability and expected finish. Walkers are welcome in all three events but are asked to start behind runners and keep left on the course.
Aid stations are positioned along the courses and provide water and PURE Electrolyte Hydration at specified kilometre marks for the 10 km and 21 km events. All finishers in the 21 km, 10 km and 5 km receive a finisher medal.
Awards are presented at a prize giving in front of the stage at the finish area, including age group medals for 21 km and 10 km, and top placements for the 5 km. A major spot prize draw for eligible finishers offers an Avalon Waterways river cruise. Registration and late entry are handled at Mount Maunganui Surf Club; late entries incur a cash fee. Entries are non refundable and may be transferred up until the Thursday of event week. A bag check service is available and unclaimed items are retained for 10 days before donation.
