Morton Pumpkin Classic
The Morton Pumpkin Classic takes place in Morton, Illinois, as part of the local Pumpkin Festival. The event features two distinct distances for participants to choose from:
- 10K running race
- 2 Mile untimed fun run and walk
The course is flat and leads participants through the town toward the outskirts of Morton. The route concludes on Jefferson Street, situated in the center of the festival activities. The 2 Mile event is open to participants using strollers and wheelchairs; however, pets and roller blades are prohibited in both the 10K and the 2 Mile events.
All 10K finishers receive a pumpkin-themed medal. Performance awards for the 10K include monetary prizes for top overall winners and pumpkin pies for the top three finishers in various age divisions, ranging from under 19 to over 70. While the 2 Mile walk is untimed and does not offer competitive prizes, all participants have access to post-race amenities.
A post-race party is held at the corner of Jefferson and 1st Avenue, featuring music, snacks, beverages, and pumpkin donuts. Additionally, race bibs include a coupon for a pancake and sausage breakfast located at the main festival food tent. Packet pickup is available on the Friday evening before the race at Morton Junior High School and on the morning of the event near the starting line.
