22nd Annual Run to Read Half Marathon
The event is a half marathon of 13.1 miles held at Prickett's Fort State Park, 88 State Park Road, Fairmont, WV. The course is a double out and back on two rail trails: the first section is about 5 miles long, paved, and passes through the historic restored Meredith Tunnel; the second section is on crushed limestone with views of the Monongahela River. The course is closed to vehicular traffic and described as flat, with five water stops along the route.
Timing is provided by chip timing from Miles of Smiles Timing Services and results will be posted on smileymiles.com. Awards are presented as runners finish. Post-race food is provided and all finishers receive a custom finisher memento.
The event benefits Literacy Volunteers of Marion County, a United Way agency and a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization that offers free one-on-one tutoring in reading, math, and English as a second language for adults and children. Registration opens July 27, 2026 and closes October 1, 2026; the registration fee is $35.00. Long sleeve technical shirts are guaranteed for registrations received by December 19, 2026; a very limited number of shirts may be available for same-day registration.
