Event overview
The 21st Annual Run to Read Half Marathon takes place on January 17, 2026 in Fairmont, West Virginia. The event is based at Prickett's Fort State Park, 88 State Park Road, Fairmont, WV 26554. Entry for the half marathon is listed at $45, with a price increase scheduled after January 9, 2026. The race benefits Literacy Volunteers of Marion County (LVMC), a United Way agency and 501(c)(3) organization.
Course and race services
The course is a double out-and-back run on two rail trails. The first section is about 5 miles, paved, and passes through the historic, restored Meredith Tunnel. The second trail is on crushed limestone and offers a scenic view of the Monongahela River. Chip timing is provided by Miles of Smiles Timing Services and results will be posted on smileymiles.com. Long-sleeve technical shirts are available for registrations completed by December 16, 2025; a very limited number of shirts may be available on race day. All finishers receive a custom finisher memento. Awards are presented as runners cross the finish line, including top three male and female overall and top three in age groups from 19 & under through 70+.
Additional information
The event offers same-day registration and packet pickup on race day and holds a pre-race meeting at the starting line below the church on the hill.
