Event Overview
The Kickin It For Katy event returns for its fifth annual edition at Fairmont State University. Located at 1201 Locust Ave. in Fairmont, West Virginia, this community event focuses on suicide awareness while supporting local causes. The activities take place on the university campus and provide opportunities for both athletic participation and community gathering.
Participants can choose between two main physical activities:
- 5k running race
- 1.2 mile walk (approximately 1.3 miles)
Festival Activities
Alongside the run and walk, the event features a festival known as "Katy Fest." This gathering includes a variety of interactive stations such as face painting, a dunk tank (weather permitting), and a National Guard pull-up contest. Attendees can browse various vendors, visit awareness tables focused on topics like addiction and veteran support, and participate in a large basket raffle.
Additional Features
The event also hosts a Cornhole Tournament for which separate registration is available. Food trucks and live music are present on-site to provide refreshments and entertainment. All proceeds from the event benefit the Marion County Humane Society and the Kaitlynn Jade scholarship fund.
