Event Overview

The Anacortes Santa Run is a themed athletic event held in Anacortes, Washington. Participants in the main race are provided with a full Santa suit to wear during the activity, creating a field of runners all dressed as Santa Claus. The event serves as a fundraiser to support the Anacortes High School Cross Country Team.

Course and Activities

The route consists of a flat 5k course that circles the Cap Sante Marina. The event begins with a group start featuring Christmas carols. Participants can enjoy seasonal refreshments including cookies, coffee, hot cocoa, and other treats. The race is timed, and all finishers receive a commemorative medal.

The program includes specific challenges and prizes:

  • 5k: A timed run around the marina for participants wearing Santa suits.
  • 800 Yards: The "Run with Rudolph" kid’s dash for children up to 3rd grade.

In the 5k event, the first male and female finishers receive a gallon of eggnog. Additionally, the event features a "Beat the Elves" competition where two high school cross country runners start five minutes after the main group; participants who finish before these runners receive a sticker.

Registration and Participation

Children participating in the 800 Yards dash receive reindeer antlers, a race bib, a jumbo candy cane, and a commemorative bracelet. Parents are permitted to run alongside their children during this portion of the event. Packet pickup, which includes the Santa suits and bibs, is organized at the Rockfish Grill beer garden in the days leading up to the race.
