Montauk Lighthouse Triathlon
The Montauk Lighthouse Triathlon takes place on July 19, 2026 at Montauk Lighthouse in Montauk, NY (2000 Montauk Highway). The event is a USAT sanctioned sprint triathlon with two transition areas.
Distances:
- Swim: 0.5 mile
- Bike: 14 miles
- Run: 3.1 miles
The swim is point to point and begins at Gin Beach; athletes walk about a half mile down the beach then swim back along Gin Beach. The bike course is rolling with several climbs. The run leads athletes uphill to the finish at the historic lighthouse. Two transition areas are used to support the point to point swim and the remainder of the race.
Registration fees for USAT members range from $140 early to $190 on race day for individual entries. All participants must hold a valid USAT license; non USAT members must purchase a one day license. Packet pick up is offered at Runner’s Edge in Farmingdale and Montauk Cycle Company in Montauk, with an on site race morning pick up option for an additional fee.
Race procedures include body marking, visible bib placement, ChampionChip electronic timing worn on the ankle and chip return at the finish. Safety and equipment rules require a helmet for the bike, no headphones, and adherence to no drafting rules. Spectator shuttle service is provided between the lighthouse area and the swim start.
