Montauk Lighthouse Triathlon
The Montauk Lighthouse Triathlon is a USAT sanctioned sprint triathlon held on July 19, 2026 at Montauk Lighthouse, Montauk, NY. The event uses two transition areas and finishes at the historic Montauk Lighthouse.
Distances for the sprint race are:
- Swim: 0.5 mile
- Bike: 14 miles
- Run: 3.1 miles
The swim is a point to point course that begins at Gin Beach; athletes walk roughly a half mile down the beach and swim back along Gin Beach. The bike course is described as rolling with several climbs. The run leads athletes to a finish near the lighthouse and includes an uphill segment.
All participants must hold a valid USA Triathlon license. Non USAT members must purchase a one day license to compete. The event uses electronic timing with a chip that must be worn on the ankle and returned at the finish. There are published cut off limits for each leg of the race.
Packet pick up is offered at local retail locations prior to race day and at the transition area on race morning for an additional fee. Shuttle buses transport spectators between the lighthouse area and the swim start; pets and bicycles are not permitted on the shuttle. The Montauk Lighthouse is the beneficiary of the event.
