May Day 5K Run/Walk
The May Day event is a community 5K run/walk held at Main Beach in East Hampton. The event runs rain or shine and includes on-course rules such as no dogs and a request that participants using strollers start at the back of the field. Free parking is available near the course.
Amenities include a T-shirt for the first 400 packet pickups, refreshments, music, an awards ceremony, live and text and email results, free finish line photos, and personalized bibs for registrations made at least three weeks in advance. Pre-race packet pickup is offered at the Main Beach Pavilion the day before the race and packet pickup is also available on race day; bib number is required for pickup and last-minute registrants receive their bib number by text promptly.
Awards are given to the top male and female overall and to the top three male and female finishers in age groups including 14 & under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Proceeds from the event support the Tyler Project, an organization focused on mental health awareness, counseling, and educational programs addressing concerns such as cyberbullying.
