May Day 5K Run/Walk
The May Day 5K Run/Walk is a community 5-kilometer event held in early May at Main Beach in East Hampton. Registration is not yet open.
The event offers packet pickup before the race at the Main Beach Pavilion and on-site packet pickup on race day. The first 400 people who pick up their packet receive a T-shirt. Personalized bibs are available for participants who register three weeks in advance. Last-minute registrants receive their bib number by text within 90 seconds.
Amenities include refreshments, music, live and text results, an awards ceremony, free finish line photos, and same-day video of finishes. Awards are presented to the top male and female overall and to the top three in each age group: 14 and under, 15 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 and over.
Course rules note that no dogs are allowed on the race course and that participants using strollers should start at the back of the field. Free parking is available. Proceeds from the event support the TYLER PROJECT, an organization that provides counseling, education, and programs addressing mental health concerns and cyberbullying for students, young adults, and families.
