Event overview
The Montara Mountain Trail Run takes place on Saturday, February 21, 2026, in Pacifica, CA at San Pedro Valley Park (600 Oddstad Boulevard). The event offers multiple distances:

- Kid's Run (6yo & younger, 50 yd dash) - Free
T-shirts are given to pre-registered runners. All finishers receive a custom medal; 50K finishers also receive a custom coaster. Overall top three male and female finishers at each distance receive awards and race credits.
Course and race logistics
The course runs on Montara Mountain coastal habitat with views of the Pacific Coast. Routes are mostly single-track with some dirt road and asphalt. Elevation gain by distance: 10K 1,200', Half Marathon 2,900', 20 mi 4,640', Marathon 5,840', 50K 6,700'. Courses are marked with ribbon approximately every 200 yards and color coded by distance. Polka-dot flagging indicates turns; blue ribbons mark the wrong way. Headphones are allowed only on dirt road sections and are not allowed on single-track, at aid stations, when crossing paved roads, or while crossing the finish line.
The event is cupless - participants should bring their own fluid container. Aid stations are fully stocked every 6-7 miles with fruit, salty snacks, candy, water, and Skratch electrolyte drink. Runners are advised to carry at least 20 oz of water between aid stations. Drop bags are permitted for 20 mi, Marathon, and 50K at the Start/Finish.
