Overview
The Montara Mountain Trail Run takes place on February 21, 2026 in Pacifica, CA at San Pedro Valley Park. The event offers the following distances:
- 10K
- Half Marathon
- 20 mi
- Marathon
- 50K
- Kid's Run (6 years and younger, 50 yd dash, free)
The venue includes coastal mountain habitat with native plants and views of the Pacific Coast.
Course and logistics
Courses are marked with ribbon approximately every 200 yards and use color coding and polka-dot flagging to indicate turns. Blue ribbons mark wrong-way junctions. GPX files are available for each distance. Aid stations are fully stocked every 6 to 7 miles with fruit, salty snacks, candy, water, and Skratch electrolyte drink; runners are advised to carry at least 20 oz of water between aid stations. The event is cupless; runners should bring their own hydration container. No dogs are allowed on the course.
Elevation, surfaces and limits
Elevation gain and surface breakdown by distance:
- 10K: Elevation Gain 1,200', mostly single track.
- Half Marathon: Elevation Gain 2,900'.
- 20 mi: Elevation Gain 4,640'.
- Marathon: Elevation Gain 5,840'.
- 50K: Elevation Gain 6,700'.
Course surfaces include single track, dirt road, and small amounts of asphalt. A 9-hour time limit applies to all events.
Awards and finish items
Pre-registered runners receive T-shirts. All finishers receive a custom medal; 50K finishers also receive a custom coaster. Overall top three male and female finishers per distance receive monetary race credits and age-group awards are given to the top three in each category.
