The Mogadishu Mile Kentucky is the sixth annual tribute event held at Queenslake Horse Farm in Georgetown, Kentucky. The event combines a free military-style fitness competition with a community gathering of remembrance for the 19 fallen heroes of the 1993 Battle of Mogadishu.
A solemn opening features a procession led by Friesian horses, bagpipe music across the lake, and the reading of the 19 names before the competition begins. Teams carry American flags, ammo cans, and replica M16s the full course, passing 19 memorial stations that bear the names of each hero. A 35-lb ruck option is available and obstacles are placed along the route; teams are expected to finish with the gear they started with.
At the finish area participants find recovery services, Marks of Remembrance including free tattoos, food and drinks, and custom bourbon tributes. A music festival on the lakeside main stage follows the commemorative activities, with a wristband required for general admission to the concert area and no wristband charge for competitors.
Proceeds support organizations that assist families of the fallen, wounded veterans, and first responders. The event brings together participants, veterans, Gold Star families, sponsors, and volunteers in a day of remembrance and community support.
