Mogadishu Mile Kentucky - 6th Annual, October 3, 2026
The Mogadishu Mile Kentucky is an annual military fitness competition and tribute held at Queenslake Horse Farm in Georgetown, Kentucky. The event honors the 19 service members who died during the 1993 Battle of Mogadishu and has taken place each October since 2020.
Participants move along a woodland course carrying gear such as American flags, ammo cans, and replica M16s and may choose a 35 lb ruck option. The course includes physical obstacles and passes by 19 permanent steel memorial stations, each marked with a fallen hero’s name and information. A solemn procession led by Friesian horses and the sound of bagpipes accompanies the roll call of names as part of the tribute.
The competition is followed by a full day music festival and community gathering at the farm, with recovery services, marks of remembrance, food and drink offerings, and tributes at the finish area. Select commemorative items and tributes appear as part of the event program.
The Mogadishu Mile is presented as a free community event. Proceeds and fundraising from the gathering support organizations that assist families of the fallen, wounded veterans, and first responders. The venue spans 140 acres of bluegrass, ancient woods, and a lake, and offers free on-site parking and ADA accessible access for attendees.
